I see EIN59L as a regular visit to Dub.....why does it has a letter at the end instead of a third number ?

Take a look at many Ryanair flights on Flightradar and you'll see they'll probably have an alphanumeric callsign completely unrelated to the flightnumber the passenger uses- e.g RYR95RY = FR3326! Ryanair computer generate theirs

As has been said they use letters to avoid callsign confusion, basically its Numeric (e.g. EIN895) v. alphanumeric callsigns (e.g. EIN59L). An Example for you, which sounds more clearer and are you more likely to pick up and hear when for example both the below flights are airborne and are both involved in interaction with ATC with numeric callsigns - On the right are the actual callsigns used.

''Shamrock 712 contact Shannon 124.7'' - For this flight, an alphanumeric call sign is used - Shamrock Seven-One-Charlie (EIN71C)
''Shamrock 714 contact Shannon 124.7'' - For this flight, a numeric callsign is used - Shamrock Seven-One-Four (EIN714)

Confusion is then avoided, and progressively more and more airlines use alphanumeric to avoid it. Had both the above callsigns been numeric, more than likely confusion will occur.

    Thank you....

You will find that some posters here have access to info that the general pubic does not due to them working in the aviation sector.......or it could be that their ability to use the internet to discover these things is better than you.....;)

Looks like some testing here. Or, you know, they could be just taking her out for a spin so they can have a few brews on good Friday.

Yeah, two fools out paragliding collided with each other in Wicklow, Rescue 117 went out to provide an airlift to the hospital

AN-12 ,UR-CGV will be passing over(close) to Dublin in the next few minutes. from the North east.

had the most amazing landing ever on monday in carcassone.....we set up approach to the west of the runway and at about 1 or 2km out at about 1300 feet, he swung a left and flew parallel to the runway, before a sharp right taking us over the town, then right again and lined up onto the eastern side of the runway. its a really beautiful town, so to fly direct in over it is really great viewing.

thought it was just the wind changed at the last minute and he decided to change sides, but no...was there again today and all 3 planes that landed while i was there, did exactly the same thing. it makes for great spotting also, as visibility is great, with really sharp turns at low altitudes.

managed to get a screen grap today from FR24 as the Stansted plane was landing as i was looking out from the viewing area.

Just flew over me here in Wicklow 2 mins ago. Could hear it clearly even with the tv on. Had to hit up flight radar to see what it was

Haha, heard an announcement once where the FO started off his cruise message went into detail about cruise level, the distance to the destination, the flying time left and estimated arrival on stand as well as the weather.

To which ATC replied, ''Thank you'' and another pilot, ''Thanks lovely'' and the best part from another pilot - ''Cheers was just about to get ATIS for Norwich'' :D

Can't seem to find it on youtube, I'll have a look. :)
