BAW676 squawking 7700 LHR-IST, just turned around, looks to be heading back to LHR

Descending at 2700ffpm, dropping like a stone

Video of the Quantas leak http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-28139771

Check the guy reading a newspaper like nothing is happening :D

Maybe it's just me but I wouldn't say there were no potential safety issues with a substance as powerful as water and an aircraft high in the sky.

I hope so, though it does look a bit odd. I'm sure it's just the angle of the pic.

BAW676 landed safely but returned due to smoke in the cockpit apparently. That would be a tad nerve racking.

I saw that on Flightradar 24 and was wondering alright.
Took a very wide route back in to Dublin.

767 diverted due engine bleed issue.Over weight landing, services were on full standby.Taxied to stand normally so all good.

What was the sense in that..If he waited he would be down on the ground now but now he is still in the air doing finals to shannon!

Because he would have gone over the allowed time before they have to divert due to their company guidelines i.e. fuel issues. If he got straight into DUB he would have been fine, more than fine even, but if anything else had to happen at DUB the reserve fuel levels might have kicked in and it'd be a fuel emergency.

Right....So overall it looks like RYR give flip all time on the company guidelines for circling to land or in hold.

There was an investigation on TV recently about just that issue, and the alleged high amount of fuel emergencies called by Ryanair pilots due to having very little additional fuel....I wish I could remember the name of it

No Ryanair give the legal required plus Captains discretionary addition.
