It's been redirected to Toronto. Sickener for the people who were looking forward to landing in New York after 7 hours.

Ouch. I have even less clue about US airspace than Irish/UK - what's the deal with diverting to Canada?

International flights have to land at a CBP equipped airport in the US. However these usually fill up quite quickly in times of bad weather/disruption. Sounds like IAD, PBWI, PHL, BOS were all full with diversions from EWR.......next stop YYZ!!!

I spotted this plane. Probably nothing strange about it but he's about 15 mins from New York and still at 37,000ft. Not to mention that the flight has been in the air for 13.5 hours at this stage. In total, it'll be flying for around 13 hrs 45 mins. I can't even imagine what it would take to get me on that flight. Almost 14 hours on the same plane. I'd cry, you know, a whole lot. If that was diverted...

    ETA: It's the decent now.

I do - but I still feel sorry for them. :) I see a Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong just landed in front of our BA friends in Toronto. Almost 15 hours in the air. I can't even begin to think of the horror.

I wouldn't mind at all you know :P I'd obviously be first class, though.

15 hours on an A388 wouldnt bother me in the slightest, as long as the bar was well stocked:)

If you're feeling generous, you might chuck a mint or a bag of peanuts down to us plebs at the back. You'll find me. I'll be the one stuck between the ape who's hogging the arm rests and the screaming kids, none of whom are related to me, I hasten to add. If you can manage to leave your cosy lie flat bed and goose down pillow, that is. ;):p

A380 is the reason, like the 787, the media will pick up on it straight away and spin it

Pair of Air Canada Dreamliners flying in parallel over Ireland; ACA856 to Heathrow and 878 to Zurich.

    http://fr24.com/ACA856
    http://fr24.com/ACA878

'878 has been using Dreamliners for the past month or so but I think that's the first time for ACA856.

Edit: ach, so close! The first ACA 787 into Heathrow was yesterday!
