BRO3,a super king air, reg G-IASM,currently passing to the very north of Ireland. eastbound.

Broadsword are an odd mix of a company; operate King Airs and Navajos, plus the Blades aerobatic team!

Unusual routing on today's SNN-PHL, must be taking a non-etops route

Wife is on that flight so I was watching it. Was wondering what the story was as weather is fine here. Possibly waiting for a couple of departures to free up runway?

Edit: above poster correct... Rain caused the delay. Weather is great... Fine a couple of miles from airport but nasty there briefly.

Yeah I checked the radar to see if there was a shower during approach and there was a nice red blob over the airport

Was looking out the window and saw a Lufthansa A321 break off final for 28 and turn north. Everyone holding now. Is the garda heli blocking finals or something? Departures are fine

Yup Garda heli. The A321 made a fair bit of noise from where I was listening/watching.

It's at around 25/26 mins onwards here: http://archive-server.liveatc.net/eidw/EIDW3-Jul-05-2014-1530Z.mp3

Has the Garda helicopter precedence in these situations?
I would have always assumed that ATC decided who went where, just leading up to that diversion 256 was told to stay south of the M50.

Seems to have had priority. ATC used the word 'priority' around 28mins. We might not have heard the relevant conversation after the previous instruction which you mention.

I remember it happening a few month back too. I was out in Sutton and was watching an Emirates 777 on final before he gave it the welly and headed north. I could see the Garda heli hovering over near Clarehall shopping centre at the time.

Must be tricky to keep the callsigns correct each day!

Recently I've heard Air Contractors mis-calling themselves 'Ryan...Contactors!' on an ABJ flight and Aer Lingus coming into Belfast calling themselves 'Virgin... uh.. I mean Shamrock'.

Think of the poor Stobart air crews,

They're gliders. Probably a glider club out doing their thing on a Sunday afternoon.
