    I still wonder though... those four flights diverted to Shannon... would they just land, refuel the plane and take off again for Dublin with passengers onboard, or would they deplane everyone and make them wait for buses, then fill with fuel and fly back to Dublin with no passengers?

    Mostly this. Cheaper in terms of fuel without pax. I think Ryanair will almost always do this, not sure about the others. Though I have seen FR simply wait and fly back with pax on occasion (mainly late at night for instance)

    Well if it was just a short disruption then refuel and re file SNN-DUB is the best option. You get in 60-120 minutes late.

    Hardly ever seen that happen when I've been following these things. Certainly in the case of FR they usually bus the pax and fly the aircraft back empty, that I know for sure.

    It's cheaper to send them in a bus than a fully loaded 737? Only time I've seen FR fly again with pax in tow was when it was late at night or something. Seen EZY fly with the pax on several occasions to be fair. Tbh I don't have a general overview just going on what I've seen which has mainly been FR.

    Sometimes it does work out quicker that way depending on why the airport is closed etc and if it's going to be a short while or several hours.

    I've had it happen on EI though that we've diverted somewhere and by which time the other original airport is open we are still bused,(some cases 100s of KM) because the crew would be out of hours otherwise by the time they complete the return flight.

    my only experiences was a divert to Belfast with Aer Lingus - in belfast we just refulled and went back down to Dublin and landed.

    I remember being in Malaga airport coming home to Dublin in 2008 when there was (I think) a massive radar failure in dublin. A friend had been on an earlier EI flight, diverted to Shannon and was flown back to Dublin once it re-opened. We were an hour later and couldn't take off, so had to stay on board the FR flight in Malaga until they got the nod from dublin.

    Was in Ferbane Co. Offaly today and got a nice view of this on decent. It was at around 11000 ft when i saw it.

    It landed shortly after I'd posted that - I only noticed it on FR24 as it was descending over the Irish Sea. I had a look at it on approach, just a standard Ryanair 737-800 (no special livery or anything unusual about it).

    anyone know why EIN125 took off from Rwy10? when 28 has been used all day? i see flights are back landing on 28 now? confused!
