With thanks to the Convection/thunder thread on the weather forum, there's a sigmet warning for severe turbulence around Shannon. The weather system coming in from the Atlantic has some strong wind shear in it as well apparently.

Looks like it's heading into Belgium.

That plane is 46 years old. How many planes are actually that old?

Something happening in DUB, all arrivals put into a hold and all ground traffic holding

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,813 ✭✭✭billie1b

They were using RWY16, just switched all traffic to RWY28 due to an arrival stuck on RWY16 after heavy braking

Hi folks, on thursday night a plane flew low over my area (north meath), i presume it was heading for dublin, so i went on flightradar to see what it was, but no plane showed up.

Any ideas why this would happen?

Not all aircraft show up because

1-Not all a/c have the correct type transponder. The ones that do not will show up during some phases of flight on FR24 using a thing called "MLAT"- but it's patchy particularly at lower altitudes/levels

2-Military aircraft may not show up at all for obvious reasons.

Nice reg - N2N! Over Lough Neagh.

    http://planefinder.net/flight/z.NO-A18E7D

    ( Obscured on FR )

Gulfstream V, used to be Steve Jobs' runabout. Not sure who operates it now. Edit: Apple still operate it.

I see EI-EPT on flight EI381 is taking a very strange path into Shannon right now, usually flys over my place here outside Thurles at about 10,000 feet. What would be the reason for the strange route today?

heard you had you washing on the line & wanted to avoid the sight :P.

or Must have been a weather issue there.

    Bank of Utah

That's usually a proxy for the actual operator ( much like my house is listed as being owned by my mortgage provider ).

Today's flight originated from San Jose, still going over Wales; amazing machines.

Update: it's all a bit confusing. The original N2N is now N586GV and Apple carried-over the reg to a new G650.

Bit of an update about the emergency in DUB this morning, ACL's ABR455J Dublin to Izmir, Aircraft EI-STA 737-300 aborted take-off at high speed (I believe) this morning, stayed on the RWY while emergency services surrounded her to check the brakes and what not, she's not having a good run the past few days

Never seen this before on FR. There's about 8 ground vehicles showing up in Schipol at the moment with their own icons. The two bird control units are in the lead for distance covered.

They regularly show up at schiphol. I guess it helps having the country mostly flat. You usually see bird scarers ambulances etc there.

that will be down to the location of the receiver that's capturing the information for FR24 being close to the airport, and a user of FR24 having uploaded the identification codes to the system so that they're recognised, the radio then captures the returns from the ground vehicles that are fitted with equipment that makes them show up on the ground movements radar.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the same shortly at Dublin, with the new ground movement radar that's been installed, it will depend on if the coding equipment is needed on the vehicles as well

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁
