Why is it marked as a plane?

Think it's because it has a transponder so ATC can see it

Bit of a risk with squawk like that. Easy typo to make.

I see on the flightradar24 forum that five new host radar sites in Ireland should be up and running in the next few weeks. This should improve MLAT coverage. Anyone in here one of the new hosts? If so where are you based?

Three flights circling Cork for a while. Looks like a 4th about to join them.

That was the second flight diverted to Shannon. http://www.corkairport.com/gns/flight-information/arrivals.aspx

Was about to say "but visibility is perfect here!" but then looked 100' up the hills.

You'd want to look the other way, that's where the airport is:D

Cork is weird like that, driving to work - no fog.
Drive past the Bull McCabes - fog.

I presume it's indicative of all the southerly hills! Office faces East :( Lovely view of the ships coming in though! Tempted to start a marinetraffic.com thread except it might not be as exciting. And possibly not in the remit of this forum :D

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrument_landing_system

For a given airport you will have to look at the individual approach plates. Each airport is different depending on terrain etc

In general, have a look at Shamrocks link above.

Nothing so dramatic, It was a mere runway change from 10 to 28. ;)
