I can read very well thank you.

I am excluding certain possibilities for the holding of flights.

Here's an odd one..... Air India A330 landed at St Athan outside Cardiff about 15 min ago. Looks to have flown from Mumbai. FL400 all the way too so obviously empty.

Cardiff Aviation are based there (Bruce Dickinson's maintenance venture).

It certainly still seems to be - but with a commercial venture operating from it:

Ah interesting. I didn't realise there was a joint civ/mil airfield in the UK. I see from their website and wiki that they took over the old RAF hangers.

Its not the only one - RAF Valley / Anglesey Airport is another. There may be others, wouldn't be surprised with some of the isolated Scottish ones for instance.

Further research seems to suggest apparently it (and a sister aircraft) have arrived at St Athan for storage

Valley is limited to the PSO route to Cardiff if I remember correctly. Northolt is a good example where military have embraced biz traffic for revenue reasons.

Now that ye mention it. I remember sending Handling Requests to RAF Leauchers for clients in snn. Nice money earner no doubt.

FR1742 and FR805 holding to land at NOC. I expect it's due to fog.
