never said you did and this has nothing to do with your post.

am referring to a message on the ATC there where they were booking a crew to get a train to Shannon, from Dublin.

    Why ?

Crews will have known the weather beforehand and fueled it appropriately. Probably could stay airborne for a lot longer.

The latest TAF is for the wind to get worse. Why bother holding anymore when there's no improvement in sight. They were holding for a good while and had missed approaches.

Was that on their ops freq?

One aircraft is positioning back to Cork and the other to Edinburgh.

Sometimes the actual conditions reported by tower are better than the forecasted weather. There could be a lull in the wind.

There probably was. They both tried an approach before diverting but both went around and decided to head for shannon.

Just as an aside, got on update to the daa android app and it now has fr 24 built into it so you can check the position of departing and arriving aircraft. No more spoofing from gate agents that the aircraft will be there in a minute! ;)

FR8558 sitting on the threshold of RWY16, told the tower the wind is too strong from take off, tower has given him 2 minutes to decide if he is going or if he'll vacate the RWY for inbound traffic.

    Wind is 220' at 25 max 37kts min 16kts

EDIT : Just vacated the RWY and checking on what speeds he can take

Things might be getting interesting C.

FR507 going around at 2800ft, was given the option to continue the approach until 5 miles and see if he wanted to change his mind but he declined.

EDIT : FR507 and FR338 getting vectored in for RWY28 instead (at their request), others still going for RWY16

    http://www.flightradar24.com/RYR60PN/53787d4 requesting 28 instead of 16

    EDIT: FR338 doing the same

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,162 ✭✭✭✭JCX BXC

Instead hes deciding to land on Runway 28. Flights will switch to RWY 28 now:P

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,813 ✭✭✭billie1b

Mixed feelings about who wants 28 and 16

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,179 ✭✭✭✭fr336

Another FR on ground stating wind currently not within their limits for either 28 or 16.
