If the new parallel runway ever gets the go ahead will that be the end of 16/34.

They'd be screwed on days like today with strong crosswords.

Can usually get in on the cross runway in Cork when the jets can't. Just not today:(

Which runway is in use in Dub?

    28 at the moment.

The wind must have changed direction, it was in use earlier. Wind blowing 220 degrees.

Wind was 220 earlier when RWY16 was in use, there was maintenance on RWY28, a Ryanair initiated a go around at 2800ft, asked for vectors to RWY28, when others heard he was allowed they followed suit, they stopped the works and they changed 28 to the active then, the wind direction when it changed was 210, it has since changed back to 220 and 28 is still the active.

This is just a quick thought, but are pilots so scared to have a landing at cork in bad conditions due to the manx2 crash?

Ha ha no, it's all to do with the orientation of the runway and the wind today.

The wind was outside the company and/or aircraft crosswind limits.

The manx2 crash was caused by busting minimums on a Cat11 approach when the aircraft and crew were only certified to Cat1 conditions. A big no no.
