Transaero 772 doing 677 knots of newfoundland. normal?

    Eastbound? With current tailwinds, yes.

Seems to be. There's an Air India behind it doing 650kt now.

Fastest one I saw tonight was an Emirates A380 at 677 kt about two hours ago.

Been watching FR24 and the fastest aircraft seems to be the B 744 and Airbus A380.Four engines seem to equate to a slightly faster cruise speed - or is it the angle of sweep-back that makes a particular 'plane faster? The B744 wings are slightly more swept-back than say, a B777 or an A330, it seems.

All planes showing here are doing 610kt+. You certainly can see where the tailwind is.

Apart from a rogue Fed-Ex one supposedly doing 687kt which I assume must be a F24 glitch.

13:10 USAir B762 over Wales, heading NW for the DUB VOR. Not much spotting time left for these old birds, just a couple more weeks.

Things have reached a tipping-point when there are five times as many Dreamliners in the air right now as B762s. And the B763s aren't far ahead of the Dreamliners either...

The 767 was my favourite aircraft as a passenger, a great seven-abreast layout and a really smooth ride, not nervous and jumpy in the turbulence like an A330.

FR24 track seems a bit off, looks like he's landed on the N2/M50! :P

Landed somewhere around Poppintree and no gone for a spin back towards the airport.

Either that or the Flightradar path is slightly off :)

Squwak 7700. Some firm of emergency

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,363 ✭✭✭Popoutman

    Another 787 issue?

Is there anywhere to get information on why various aircraft squawk 7700? I think it could be interesting so see why a particular 7700 squawk occurred. I can easily see why aircraft in general would, but it's more a database of every 7700 squawk.

circling around burning fuel id imagine.

is it just me, or are more and more emergencies happening these days?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭airuser

Not really . 7700 covers all , 7600 covering radio problems in general.

Google Squawk Codes and one will get the full list.

With Ba103 the controllers will know what is the problem

Plenty of fuel to burn off as was en route to Calgary

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭airuser

Must be some technical fault. As they could have flown onto Shannon and burnt fuel that way.

    BAW Tech people are Heathrow

.@British_Airways says BA103 from #London, UK to #Calgary making u-turn to LHR but reports of an emergency, are *false.* Statement to come

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,980 ✭✭✭Growler!!!

No more emergencies than normal I'd say. Just depends on your fr24 filter settings.

I turned on the 77 filter and had to turn it off after a day or two.

Why is there not a 7500 filter? Would be more interesting.
7600 is no use at all.

and on a different runway to the plane that landed before and is landing after it. has a pretty much straight run in.

talk on twitter of it being a technical/engine issue.
