I meant actually looking out my window and seeing them go around :D I usually only get to see takeoffs from 10. It's a change.

    I'm not jealous at all...;)

Yep you did hear Aer Lingus Ops as they are included on the liveatc feed

I never knew that....sorry, I am humbled. And you learn something new every day.

How do we know when ops are on ATC then?

Why are most flights going to Shannon, why not Belfast, Knock, Kerry or Cork??

Another reason why Dublin needs a 2nd Airport, if anything ever happens to Dublin Airport, fire, crash, bad weather, overload/failure of UK radar there needs to be a backup

Only way to know is when they're asking questions such as that about diversions and the like :P

Yes I know, but I doubt I heard AL ops on the ATC live now!!

ATC did try to suggest Cork saying that ops in SNN would not be able to handle the flight, and to expect delays for pax. Captain said OK we are on the way there anyway.

When's those Beers again? think I might have to bring my rolling pin. :)

I recon you did hear op's!!

I assume a dublin airport 50km away would have simular winds.

Cork is windy, kerry knock closed.

Yes, our friend fr336 has also enlightened me.

Grateful to all for putting me right. See, I am willing to learn as I go!

I actually never realised that ops could be heard on ATC. You live and learn.

    Thanks.

Surely a night that will live in Irish aviation infamy. I can picture the scenes in schools up and down the country tomorrow. All the kids in their Aer Lingus or Ryanair Jerseys. Probably one kid with a BA jersey just to be different. All out at lunch time practicing their landings with simulated wind sheer.

This was the first of the big weather discussions on boards, when we watched Pat's ladder for 4 hours :D

    A Shamrock on the ground.

why is that Lufthansa not even trying? he could be in the ground in 10 minutes....seems like he says not enought fuel.

if this was a Ryanair, it would be in the dailymail tomorrow!

They're the guys who don't sound too professional in their communication.

One of them said earlier, "we'd prefer you on the island of Ireland but it's your call from a safety point of view" and pilot snapped back "yeah you don't need to tell me that"
