LOL just listening to live atc now, conversation goes like this -

Pilot - There are lots of Hares running around

ATC - Par for the course I'm afraid, and we can't even shoot them as they are a protected species

ATC - Though if you run over them there wouldn't be a problem !!!

Or words to that effect, thought it was funny !

Aerodrome warning at Cork due to wind

Seems the media is rubbing on 2fm.
On the quiz a question was "it was so windy last night, no planes could land at Dublin airport for an hour." And apparently it was true. I'd say 30mins at max.

Is the stobart from gla-ork actually going there?

Looks like diverting to SNN before even trying Cork.

Thought there was a 90 minute break in terms of landing last night?

No. Approaches stopped for only around 20-30mins. Most approaches did fail after that, but some did make it.

Didn't hear ATC clear anyone for takeoff on 34 but did hear instructions for someone to taxi on it.

The cork airport website already have it listed as diverted.

That makes 3 dirversions today. What's the wind looking like for tonight?

I have done;) have you ever been delayed in Shannon of all airports for 8 hours?

And its not exceptional misery, someone having to spend an extra 10-20mins a plane or diverting to another irish airport is not horrible in comparison to other scenarios.

What's EI-FAX (Stobart) from dublin doing near cork?

Hmm. I daytripped down to Cork one Saturday. I asked on check in if the flight was leaving on time (it had been foggy in Cork and I knew this for some reason) on a day on which you could still airport check in with FR (plus it was to Cork - it's a good while back), and was assured it would. It didn't, because of fog in Cork. They eventually took off, circled Cork for 30 minutes and then went to Shannon and bussed us back to Cork. Entire journey took something like 5 hours including the air segment and the coach journey.

I was due to fly out at 7pm or so that evening and enquired how likely that was to happen given knock on delays and was told that on time departure would happen. We left at around 11.30. Two of us on the flight had daytripped. The ticket had cost total something ridiculously low, around a tenner or so, in some serious sale which FR had.

I realise not everyone gets to visit Cork, Shannon and Dublin Airport courtesy of Ryanair in one day and it's a good story now, but god it hurt on the day. I really should have abandoned it when I saw Cork was closed for fog in the morning. It's not like it was an expensive ticket. But sometimes, yeah, the diversions might be more than a mild irritation.

Personal attacks really show a persons personality.

It was below 2 until last night. And I post most on my phone, phones portable. Make sense?

Sounds familiar - I had exactly the same thing happen to me in 2007. Sat in Cork airport wishing I hadn't bothered with a couple of pints as I could at least have gone to a car hire place and driven home instead!
