Titan to Aer Lingus. Titan often lease 737's & 757's for the BA Scottish shuttle runs to Heathrow

What a 24 hours it has been ! Who ever thought storm Erich could be so interesting and set new records (lows of 931mb).

On the thread alone since the storm started,

786 posts filled 53 pages of some of the best discussion and action on aircraft trying to get into Cork Shannon and Dublin airports with some serious go-arounds and diverts including, Manchester, Birmingham, Heathrow, Belfast and Prestwick we've ever seen. It may be a while before something similar happens again.

Big thanks to Mech1 for keeping his LiveATC feed going right through the night in tandem with FR24 keeping us all glued to the screen and guessing the next steps of the aircraft, it was a very entertaining day in Irish Aviation.

Finally big thanks to all the Air Lingus, Ryanair and Dublin/Shannon Air Traffic controllers for getting aircraft and passengers down safely in such horrendous conditions.

    :)

And all the other airlines that kept people moving too!!! There's more than just Aer Lingus and Ryanair involved!

    They all deserve congratulations!

Not a lease but a ad hoc charter for Aer Lingus to help cope with the back log (I assume)..

Unless Aer Lingus bussed those passengers to Stansted, it looks like a positioning flight

I can't see the details properly on my phone but is it not the Virgin Little Red service operated by EI?

3(Or was it 4?) Aer Lingus aircraft were wet leased a couple of months ago by Virgin to operate their domestic service.

Little Red is the Virgin Airways UK domestic service which is operated by EI aircraft and crews. Flights from Heathrow to Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Manchester.

Yup. EI aircraft in Virgin livery. Crew are in Virgin uniforms. So the passenger experience is that they are on Virgin's Little Red service.

The flight deck are EI crew, the cabin crew are locals recruited by EI specifically for this 3 year lease.

Aer Lingus aircraft, they are just painted in the Virgin colours. :)

    Yup.

Those aircraft will operate as Little Red for something like 3 years at least.

EI gets paid for their service regardless of ticket sales, Virgin doesn't have to make any aircraft purchase commitments.

There are and it is strange. I took an Edinburgh to Heathrow return once, unfortunately BMI sold off their Glasgow to Heathrow slots before the sale to IAG therefore BA now have a monopoly on the Glasgow to Heathrow route (although I am now Silver card BA!)
