I dont know how accurate it is, but if you ckick on the airport icon, blue / white circle it gives you wind speed at the top of page.

It's a small 7 seater twin engine aircraft being used as a charter, I believe it is in DUB every now and again.

30kt regular gusts of 37kt @ DUB. I'm just a mile and a bit from 28 and it's really howling out there...

If anything happened to a plane in this situation, surely that's manslaughter if the worst occurs? Hell depending on intention, murder?! I'm sure there's a law student reading this post in bewilderment :o

I wouldn't quite shoot them :P but yes the punishment should be severe especially if already given a warning.

Ok then they should be used as the skid during minimum takeoff testing by a manufacturer :D

    I'd be down with that

As a law student - it'd be fairly difficult to prove manslaughter or murder. You'd need to prove exactly who it was, and that they knew a risk.

Thanks for this. Can you imagine though if a commercial plane crashed with everyone on board dead, maybe some on the ground in say Dublin or London - do we really think the public would let those responsible away with nothing? I daresay some penalty would be enforced, somehow, and it wouldn't be pleasant.

I am of course way overdramatising things, but the risk is still there even if extremely slim.

Doubt he'll beat our American man from last week bypassing DUB and diverting straight to LHR. (Definitely not for a Harrod's trip)
