Ah I can't be sure you know... It's not showing up on fr24 in any case I just heard something about a go around on the liveatc feed - as if it was making a second approach. I've heard nothing on the feed since approach advised them to contact tower, so I guess tower feed isn't working on liveatc at the mo!

    ETA: It has apparently landed.

    Reported Wind Sheer.

I popped out to the airport this afternoon with the kids. It was very very windy and as that Ryanair was coming in, there was a serious gust of wind at ground level. Everyone around me was commenting on it.

I think there were 3 Ryanair go arounds in quick succession, one of which was the one that diverted to Shannon.

It was absolutely packed around the airport. Cars everywhere.

Near Maine at the moment (whereever that is; I'm none too familiar with the States :p)

It's just passing over Belfast, in fact! (a Belfast in the USA, that is)

Estimated Time Arrival is currently 21:15 Irish time

Looking at Flightradar24, Currently just north-east of Marblehead...less than 35-45 mins to land I would guess.

PS. Lots of placenames in that region are identical to the UK and Ireland

It seems low at circa 3,000ft? Is this common on approaches there?

Just a proving flight on the 757, went from SNN to BOS, landed and the tower asked 'I know ye are chartered to Aer Lingus but are ye Aer Lingus crew or Air Contracctors?' The pilot said 'its more complicated than that, a joint venture'. That was pretty much it

When an airline gets a new type of aircraft on their certificate they have to do proving flights to show they know how to operate it properly before allowing pax flights
