Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but my 2008 macbook pro charger clapped out on me, its the old style "T" shape 60w one. Will the newer magsafe models charge it? I can't find the exact one I have in any shops and the only ones I can see on amazon and ebay all have crap reviews or are fake. It's this one I have:

will the newer magsafe 2 ones work? I googled it but it's mostly wattage based answers

No, the Magsafe 2 won’t work. It’s designed for the Retina MBPs and has a slightly smaller connector which won’t fit your Mac. I assume you have a 13-inch, in which case you need a 60W Magsafe 1. The version of this Apple currently sell is L-shaped.

    This:

Very expensive but I’d strongly recommend against skimping on chargers. You might be able to get it a bit cheaper on Amazon, the problem is making sure its authentic. There’s fakes everywhere.

Oh and the Mac forum is here. ;)

Thanking you, I wasn't sure if the new "L" shaped ones would fit, yeah its a 13" macbook pro, the aluminium one, think it's the late 2008 model. And yeah I had a look on ebay and amazon and there's loads of "apple" chargers pictured but most of the reviews are saying they're knockoff ones.

Oh and cheers for the apple link I was looking under computing but I figured I'd be hung for posting an apple question in the PC master race forum :pac:

They replaced the T-shape with an L-shaped connector in an attempt to reduce fraying. But in doing so they increased the chances of the Magsafe not detaching if pulled or tripped over, which kinda defeated the point of it. I assume this is why they’ve gone back to the T-shape with the MagSafe 2. Just something to be aware of.
