Well there is a 2200+ in the O Hanlon (John Delaney) but the time control is 105 minutes. Anyone know for sure if this precludes it being FIDE rated? Seems strange that games from the Ennis were rated before if thats the case

  • Registered Users Posts: 276 ✭✭EnPassant

If you go to the FIDE site you can see that the top 3 divisions of the Leinster League are to be rated but not the O'Hanlon or below.

    The link is here: http://ratings.fide.com/tournament_list.phtml?moder=ev_code&country=IRL

Valentin Kalinins (2204 FIDE) is playing for Aer Lingus in the Ennis

    Bray 2-4 Dún Laoghaire.

Hope to get the league table updated at the weekend once I work out how the software works!

Is it a new software that's being used this year?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,219 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    Nope; a new controller.

    Inchicore 3-3 St Benildus.

Writeup on the Benildus-Inchicore match on the Benildus website here:
    O’Hanlon stay mid-table

An understrength O’Hanlon picked up a respectable draw away to Inchicore last night to maintain their position in mid-table.

With no Odhrán, Stephen or Desmond, and the Bodley A even struggling to provide players, we had to dig deep to fill out the team, eventually throwing in Alex Byrne, whose first tournament was a 0/6 score in Gonzaga this year. However, after a win for the Bodley on his Benildus debut last Saturday when 500 points outrated, he followed that up with another win last night – 560 points outrated this time! – when picking up first two two pawns for an exchange, then three and, though it was never straightforward, he was able to convert the full point late on in the evening. ...continues

League table updated on LeinsterChess.com, so that should update regularly now as soon as I get results from both sides.

    Cavan ½-5½ Phibsboro

    St Benildus 3½-2½ Elm Mount.

In the last game, we had a choice between forcing Elm Mount to settle for a perpetual, or walking into a king and queen fork. Guess which way that went!

Still a great result for us as we were outrated on all bar board 5.

    Has Peter fixed it?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,219 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Yes; there's been an update since then. Current delay is trying to sort a difference in the Cavan v Phibsboro scoresheet, and Cavan are quite hard to get a hold of!

For what it's worth, the league table as I have is -
Pos	Team MP	GW	GD	GL	Pts
    1	Ballinasloe	4	17	6	1	20
    2	Blanchardstown	4	12	4	8	14
    3	St Benildus	4	11	4	9	13
    4	Elm Mount	4	9	7	8	12 1/2
    5	Inchicore	4	11	3	10	12 1/2
    6	Phibsboro	4	10	5	9	12 1/2
    7	Dún Laoghaire	3	9	5	4	11 1/2
    8	Celbridge	4	6	6	12	9
    9	Curragh 3	6	6	6	9
    10	Cavan 3	5	3	10	6 1/2
    11	Bray/Greystones	3	4	4	10	6
    12	Finglas 4	4	3	17	5 1/2

Which means that Blanchardstown beat Celbridge 3.5-2.5, right?

    Yup.

Right. I take it, Phibsboro beat Cavan 5.5-0.5?

The site should be updated by the end of the week one way or the other.

    Last night's results -

Phibsboro 1-5 Elm Mount. That's two 5-1 defeats and a 5½-½ win in Phibsboro's last three games!

Celbridge 2½-3½ Finglas; mightn't be enough to lift Finglas off the bottom of the table though.

Benildus maybe about to inflict Ballinasloe's first defeat of the season; 2½-1½ (away from home) with two games to go; both fairly level half an hour ago anyway. Ballinasloe missing their top two boards, but that'd still be an excellent result for us. Could be dark horses for promotion; everyone just seems to be on form, which is making up for us not being the strongest team in the league.

Edit - confirmed now; we won one and lost one of the final two. Ballinasloe 2½-3½ St Benildus. :)

    League table is -
Pos	Team MP	GW	GD	GL	Pts
    1	Ballinasloe	5	18	9	3	22 1/2
    2	Elm Mount	5	12	10	8	17
    3	Dún Laoghaire	4	14	5	5	16 1/2
    4	St Benildus	5	13	7	10	16 1/2
    5	Blanchardstown	4	12	4	8	14
    6	Phibsboro	5	10	7	13	13 1/2
    7	Curragh 4	9	7	8	12 1/2
    8	Inchicore	4	11	3	10	12 1/2
    9	Celbridge	5	8	7	15	11 1/2
    10	Finglas 5	7	5	18	9 1/2
    11	Bray/Greystones	4	6	5	13	8 1/2
    12	Cavan 4	6	3	15	7 1/2

    - and Ballinasloe have yet to play Elm Mount and Dún Laoghaire, while we've played both.

    This table doesn't seem to be accurate. Elm Mount are on 17 points (12 + 5); Finglas on 9.5 (6 + 3.5)

Writeup on the Benildus-Ballinasloe match on the Benildus website here:
    O’Hanlon stun league leaders

On Friday evening, the O’Hanlon had five players, including a Bodley B sub, and were facing into a heavy defeat away to a Ballinasloe side with a 2078 on board 1 and whose worst result this season has been a 4½-1½ win. 24 hours later, the side return to Dublin with a 3½-2½ win, which possibly even marks then out as genuine promotion candidates.

It seems to have been one of those days when everything went right for us. Stephen Cunningham was a late addition to the team, bringing us up to full strength, and when we arrived in Ballinasloe, it was to find them not only without the 2078, but also either of their 1700s. So although they had a new 1600 on board 1 and still outrated us on most of the boards, they were still a far less forbidding opposition than we’d expected.

2 hours or so in, and we’d already ...continues
