Carrick, Clevs and Fellaini? What the ****?

Nothing wrong with the selection of that trio. Carrick frees up one of the the other two to get forward, also gives United a chance to be strong in midfield, not get outnumbered, protect the defence.

Picking Welbeck and Valencia when picking the three midfielders is the odd thing. I would expect having the three lads in the team would allow the flair of Nani, Kagawa to flourish.

What the hell does Nani have to do to get a run in the team?

Why are fans so thick as to demand players returning back from injury who had disrupted pre-season, get thrown in game after game after game.

We have squads for a reason. It's early days.

Why risk a good player like Nani so early?

I'm happy to give him time to come up to speed after his disruptive pre-season, and to them hit the ground running. It's vital to get the top players fit and firing when it comes to wintertime, where you can imo, really put down a marker on a title challenge, via squad management

Nani and Kags are on the bench right?

Cleverly has a chance tonight to show his worth, I think he can be relatively clever going forward, so hopefully with Fellaini and Carrick holding ground, he has some license to roam a little bit.

Wellbeck has nice intricate play aswell.

We just need a little luck to rattle the net from open play and then everyone will simmer a bit. Alot of focus on our lack of scoring from open play tbh. I still think there is enough in that starting lineup to win the game.

Cleverly is a decent but limited player. He's going to be playing in the very position that Kags is best suited too.

Welbeck will fall over more times than he'll create anything. Hugely over-rated player and should have been sold during the summer. Any striker that scores 1 league goal over a season in a team like utd is plainly out of their depth.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

Yeah, he shouldn't play consecutive games until Christmas at least. At which time he will then be saved for next season.

Well there's another point to be made for playing players a bit more to bring them up to speed quicker. These are top athletes and well looked after, they don't need 2/3 weeks between games at this stage of the season.

This would be my view, but at the same time can maybe get the arguement that game time is invaluable.

I don't know I just think him and Kags started last two games, might just sit this one out unless needed, back for the weekend.

I was raging when I saw the team sheet without either Nani or Kagawa, but thinking about it now it makes a bit of sense.

Cleverley, Carrick and Fellaini all starting together is interesting. They could line up a number of different ways. If Cleverley is on the wing I'll be pissed off, but anywhere central and I'll be happy.

Unless Shaktar have completely fallen apart with the sale of players in the summer this is going to be a very difficult game.

Not delighted with the team overall, but interested to see how the midfield do, over the course of the game and very happy with the cb pairing. I would like to see this become the first choice back 4 period.

RVP almost creating something out of nothing there.

Ref definitely made the correct decision to not give the free to Rafael.

Who said it was a great ball? It was a cross nonetheless, the defender did make a hash of it and Danny took advantage.

End to end so far, not sure what's happening though. Welbeck scores and Evra is actually defending!!!!
