    Hi,

My dad has just qualified for the state pension. He currently gets it direct from the post office. Nut, I'd like to set up a new bank account and get the pension paid directly into it- is this possible?
    Many thanks

    Hi fokeeffe,

It is possible for your father to have his pension paid directly into a bank account.

To open a new account, your father would need to call into his nearest Bank of Ireland branch with photo ID (drivers licence or passport) and one recent utility bill (dated in the last 6 months). When opening an account, we would recommend making an appointment with the customer adviser in branch. Here is a link to our branch locator to assist you in finding the contact details to make an appointment.

Once the account has been opened, your father will receive his account number and the branch sort code. He then needs to give the account number and sort code to the pension provider and they should start paying the pension into his new account.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks
    Michelle
