Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Nav Free is excellent. Use it a lot and its never let me down in Ireland and UK. Good info on screen and free map updates regularly. Can't see why anyone with access to this would ever buy a sat nav device again. Can buy foreign maps for circa €1.99. Got France this year and again had no issues over there

I use Google Maps most of the time but its just not the same as using a dedicated system for Sat Nav. Iv downloaded Nav Free so ill give it a shot.

    Navigon.

I've been using it since 2009. I think its on sale at the moment.

Tomtom is expensive but very good. Apple maps has also improved a lot.

Still not reliable ... when it's right it's great!
Still prone to errors - wrong roads, wrong location etc.

Navigon for me tops the lot - have used it all around Europe

I used Waze a lot. It's a great program. However i purchased Navigon as it's on sale at the moment. This is as good as a dedicated GPS as you'll get, plus you can download only the maps you need so you don't have to fill the device (unlike TomTom, Garmin and others).

I've used CoPilot live for a few years.
It's was pricey enough, But I got the western europe version so it has a good few countries.
I have used it a bit in portugal with no problems, the maps you want are stored on the device.
It uses the same navteq maps as the Garmin satnavs.
Navteq used to have the best maps for Ireland, especially rural areas, not sure if that's still the case.

Keep an eye out for sales, the various sat nav apps seem to have frequent sales.

If you have a data allowance where you want to use it, then I've found the Google Maps app as good if not better than Navigon and Navfree.

Really, the proper turn by turn sat nav function is brilliant. And you have the bonus of having all the businesses/places of interest in Google to search for. And everywhere is on Google.

I agree the turn by turn system is great BUT I find 50% of business locations are just on the wrong place. Which can be frustrating.

Also, what set up do people use for holders on windscreen and charging via lighters etc? Can't really find anything that works well at reasonable price.
