Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can the postal rule regarding acceptance of an offer apply if its posted at the weekend when the post office is not in service ?
This delay in transit would clearly be known to the offeree can the rule be unacceptable in such a case and no contract would be formed until the letter arrives...?

The rules are the rules. Offer is complete when posted. the rule has been around since the middle of the 19th century when it was stated that the postal system was one of the ordinary usages of mankind. There were no telephones nor internet. It may well be that if a case comes to court the rule will be revisited.

They seemed perfectly happy with it in 1994 :D

Postal rule can easily be dislodged by a term in the contract OP.

The post office work certain weekends, such as the one immediately before the 25th December
And the one in Swords works 7 days a week all through the year

The Postal Rule has been dealt with extensively on the LD forum. Use the forum search on the RHS of your display.
