    Disappointed by that. I hit the 200m mark in 3.07 feeling very strong but then started to slow and hit the 300m mark in 4.50, so a sub 1.40 final 100m would have brought me very close to a PB.....despite pushing very hard I died in the last 100m taking 1.45. Some positives though, especially the first 200m.

    Happy enough, got a full months swimming done for the fist time in nearly a year and a half. A little dissapointed i didnt get it under 8 but plenty of time to keep working on this.

    400TT - new PB 6:13, 25m format. Thought I'd do 6:09 and would have had my turns not been so sloppy, pacing could have been better too. Still...I still believe a sub 6 is on for this year.

    1st 100: 1:29
    2nd 100: 1:34
    3rd 100: 1:37
    4th 100: 1:31

    Did a 100TT after and was a disappointing 1:28, thought it'd be under 1:25...again, I know I'll improve that.

    A slight improvement in time but disappointed in how I swam, felt very sluggish in the water and couldn't get going. Not too bad considering it's coming off the back of a bad cold but hoping the next TT will go a bit better.

    Last 3 Laps really start to push myself, over all im happy enough for my first 400m TT, im happy with my over all swim times, got my 1 km swims down to just over 17mins, aiming at hitting 15min mark with the 1km.

    This was by far my best swim this year. The help of practicing tumble turns worked the seconds off the clock. I also found swim continuity a lot easier.

    Excellent month-on-month progress MaryB30- very interested in your tumble turn comment (I'm trying to learn tumble). How much do you reckon tumble turns are saving you timewise? Like you say, they'll stand to you in the OW swims.

    I don't know really Kurt, I have decided to shift to swim this year as I think my bike is fine for now and run is a run . Oryx will testify my swim was muck. Like a barge all horse power and no speed or resemblance to swimming.

    After countless "tips" and concentrating on every thing, I was struggling to get a swim that I could look back on and say "that was good". I am up for a half distance in June. So I decided to just go with what I felt was good for me. This became clearer the more lengths I got in, and later on in swim sessions my form improves.

    So I guess when I started tumble turning (which is completely new to me) it seemed I was keeping my swim form and continuity. I was just loosing seconds every time I would grab for the pool wall to turn beforehand.

    Oh and a better base now is showing as last 100m is about the same as the first 300. Sorry for long un-insightful answer.

    So...do most people tumble turn or not? I've started to try them although wouldn't attempt one if some else was in the same lane as me or in the lane adjacent to me when I get to the wall, cause lord knows which lane I'll end up in.

    My current swim coach is trying to get the group to learn tumble turns and I'm keen but much of the rest of the group are refusing as they're triathletes and don't need to learn tumble turns :rolleyes: I keep trying to get them to see its not about speed as such but is about trying to get continuity into swimming and not be breaking the rhythm or taking a little rest every time they reach the end of a length. I remember the very first swim coach I had used to make us warm up by swimming around the perimeter of the pool without touching any walls before the lane ropes went in at the start of a session for the same reason.

    Improved but not by much. Disappointed with this as I think I am faster at the moment.Dropped out of a race yesterday for a reason I guess, may redo it in a couple of weeks when I'm freshed.

    Goal this month was to go down below 7 minutes. Happy to hit it. I reckon I could get down to 6:30 by the next one I do.

    Been swimming 1:45 100s in training so this about what I expected. Felt ok at the first split but I knew it was faster than in training so I slowed it down to pace myself. Would have been interesting to push it and keep that pace up to see what happened.

    Over the moon with this months improvement, joined back with the TRI club end Jan and last 3 weeks ive gone to 2 masters sesions a week and it has knocked an unreal amount of time off last month.

    Masters swim is great as one session is all sprints sets and find ive pushed myself to the extreme, never been under 6:45 so might get there soon.

    Splits 1:26, 1:32, 1:34, 1:32. That's a PB (by a second), but it felt a lot easier than any I've done before, so there should be more to take off soon.

    The biggest improver has been swimming with chaps who are much faster than me.
