You're not allowed in the Family Camping unless you have a kid. You need the kid when initially checking in, that's when you get your FC wristband. They're very strict about it. You can just go into the other campsites though.

In my experience, the rules aren't quite so black and white. As in if you've a kid supposedly/actually following on later, there's flexibility.

Are King Kong company Defo playing ? Don't see them on the EP site lineup page

Yes. On the Salty Dog stage, a couple of posts on FB about it.

I thought The Horrors is what we'll all be in come Monday morning after EP (awful I know) :P

Asgeir is class! For a country so small Iceland punches well above its weight in terms of artists it produces!

    Hi guys,

First year at Electric Picnic, planning on driving down was just wondering if any of you know when bringing your stuff to the campsite can you run back to the car to get more stuff or are you stuck in there once you go in?

Also any tips in general for having the best experience possible? :)

I think you will be grand you can make as many journeys as you want to the car park or Stradbally town once you have your weekend wristband, different rules though for Sunday day trippers I don't think you can leave the venue once you are scanned in or checked into the festival site.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

I'd say just go with the flow. If you're too caught up with having the best experience possible might not find it as enjoyable. For me, I've learned over the years if there's a band I really want to see but my friends aren't bothered, just go for it anyway. Can always get chatting to people at it and far better to go rather than regret it.

Kinda related but if there's a lull between sets might be worth exploring places like Body and Soul rather than sitting in campsite drinking (nothing wrong with that but can be done at any festival).

Guess stuff like pace yourself (not a sprint, it's a marathon kinda thing). Easy to go overboard the first night and then suffer for the weekend which is never nice.

That's fairly commonsense stuff so dunno how useful it is! :P

Ah yeah I'll definitely go see people on my own, no way would I let having nobody to go with stop me.

I'm not a big drinker either so not worried about pacing or sitting in the campsite drinking, I want to explore and see the many wonders I've heard EP has to offer.

    Oh I'm so excited!!! :D

They haven't done these in years! 2009 was the last year (I Think?)

Will there be another campsite for the extra capacity or will they extend one of them?

Yes it is - in writing. In reality - it's not quite so black and white ( as I've already pointed out).

I'm guessing it's plan C - none of the above.

Personally I keep the initial load light, only take stuff for Friday & early Saturday. Will usually make a trip to the car early/mid Saturday. I find that if you take too much in initially, you end up physically hurting:mad: and leaving most behind on Monday.

From the centre of the Hendrix camp site to the car is a 1 hour round trip approx. but this is subject to where the car is parked and the level of booze. Some form of sack trolley (Large wheels >3" diameter are a must) would be useful.

As for the best experience possible, explore explore explore and chat to random strangers!!
Analyse the line up, there are plenty of playlists, Ensure you do this, I've missed out and been right at the front for some acts that where unheard of and end up being huge. Nothing worse 6 months down the line when you realise you've potentially missed a hot act.

They knock out some good tunes and put on a good show. I personally wouldn't have them down as must-sees or anything but if I'm not doing much and I hear them playing I'll go check them out.

Just had a look on gum tree there out of curiosity, some people are absolutely having a laugh asking 800 euro for 2 tickets, even people asking 350 for a tickets, fecking scumbags ive only ever charged face value for any ticket i was selling on!

I don't think it's actually sold out, they're just holding a few thousand tickets to rob some people blind. A bit sickening if you ask me, won't be going again in a hurry if this is the kind of crap Festival Republic are willing to pull on their customers. £440 + £79 "processing fee", I'm all for businesses trying to turn a profit but this is just pathetic.

Looks like someone in the Irish Times is an avid boards.ie reader, based on the discussions had on this very subject the last few days.

Any idea why they're advertising this again, are there more tickets available?

They would have booked space months ago. This also indirectly will point people in the direction of the secondary market that they're now getting a piece of.
