yeah, i'm still reeling from all the stabbings, rapes, fights and murders at EP when Oxegen was cancelled in 2012....

Well let's not over use the hyperbole here :P

    But I get your point.

just listening to Dummy, quite loud in this beautiful sunny afternoon, such a delightful record.

For the lulz on this thread. http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2014/04/20/oxegen-fans-looking-forward-to-ruining-electric-picnic-for-everyone-this-year/

Now when is the announcement! Getting real twitchy.

    EP 2012 was lovely
    EP 2013 was lovely
    Oxygen 2013 was fine

There will be no knock on effect from anything.

My apologies, it was a Sunday morning and I had just arisen bleary eyed from my slumber and tend to be more judgmental than usual at such a time.

    Basically, be grand!

They don't announce the times and day to day break down until the actual week of the festival.

the day-by-day breakdown is a few weeks before that.

What are the chances of Scroobius Pip and Dan Le Sac being announced?

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,598 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

Bestival is due to announce on Wednesday morning and I think Reading and Leeds too, so perhaps EP is checking to see what is announced there before making their second announcement, the wait now is getting a little tiresome though. Loved the first announcement and got my ticket, would just like to hear a few more names now.

Every year without fail I get slightly worried about the lack of electronic acts on the bill, knowing full well they're always announced later in the year!

But plenty of time yet (128 days according to twitter

Slim i'd say, last few dates on their tour together this week. But last year Scroobius did his spoken word tour, so maybe a solo gig?

they're playing a few festivals in the UK over the Summer, including Bestival the week after EP...

I'd like to see the Rubberbandits come back. Saw their gig in UCC recently and it was hilarious. They have a new album and tour in the works so should be a distinct possibility.

They are doing Indie and that new festival in Kilkenny August Bank Holiday

I see Kiesza is playin Bestival, wouldn't be surprised if she's at EP too considering Hideaway is one of the songs of the summer.

The Little Big Tent lineup was poor last year though relative to previous years. In saying that they had some great names in the forest so fingers crossed for that again!

Its just over a month since the last announcement, so long enough, they'll need to do something soon if they want to flog €194.50 tickets to the punters.

How long was it last year between the first and second announcement?

More importantly, the initial announcement wasn't made til the 25th of April last year, so they shouldn't be in any rush to announce more acts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,873 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Last year the 1st announcement was the 25th of April and then the following announcement which included 26 other acts was released on the 22nd of May. Hopefully it will only be another week or two until we get a few more names so!

Reading and Leeds line up pretty much complete and since it is a week before so would love to see:

    Jimmy Eat World
    Vampire Weekend
    Foster The People
    The Hives
    Pulled Apart By Horses
    Cage The Elephant
Royal Blood(i know they are supporting AM over here)
    Gogol Bordello
Pendulum DJ Set(but would rather Knife Party ha)

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,873 ✭✭✭Morrison J

Imagine The Horrors and Bombay Bicycle Club would be good shouts to play EP from there. Perfect EP bands really.

Vampire Weekend would be a decent sub-headliner for Beck on the Sunday too

    Bombay playing Longitude so unlikely.
I'd love Vampire Weekend, The Hives, Pusha T, Danny Brown or Klaxons.
