Meteor broadband bill

We had the 18 month contract with Meteor for 50GB a month. Yesterday we received a bill for 457. We were only supposed to pay 25 a month. Anyway, we called customer care and we were told that there was supposed to be a text sent when we were reaching our limit. After being passed around a few times, we discovered that no one knew why the bill was so high. so this morning we called again and were told we had gone over our 50GB after the contract expired back in August. There was no mention or warning about going over and we were not informed the contract had expired in August - though, when we signed up we were told we would get notification for both. We cancelled this morning, but still have to pay the money.
Our issue is the fact we never got the notification message from Meteor. Add to that, the internet (stick) was used less that month than before. And we have never gone over. Never. Has anyone else encountered something similar? That was supposed to be unlimited broadband!

50GB a month in your opening line isn't unlimited ,
Also depending on the actual usages movies and so on you could have easily gone over your limit

Write to Meteor telling them that as they never informed you of the change of price of the service when you are supposed to have gone over your allowance you are not going to pay as they have not shown that firstly you actually owe the amount and second that they informed you when you had reached your data limit as they had promised to do.

you can do a chargeback for this amount if taken by direct debit as it is a disputed amount, also contact ComReg and explain the situation to them and they will contact meteor and sort it out.

Meteor may tell you one thing on the phone to fob you off but they must back up all figures when they are requested by ComReg, Meteor will also have to prove they sent the warning text.

You signed up to a 50GB package, so how exactly do you think this is unlimited?

It's what they have on the bills and what the sales assistant said when we signed up.

You'll be getting your money back.

This happened to other people on the Meteor forum and they got a refund.
