Interesting goal. Could of been handball. Surprised he let it go.

Henderson looks like he's wearing a paper hat.

I've said it before but Buttimer & Hancock imo are the worst referees in the league. Neither should ever be allowed near a game of the magnitude and publicity of a FAI Cup semifinal.

    Disgusted by Buttimers display today.

Deleted a lot there because i dont want a ban,but if you read my posts from after matches ive attended this year you can see i am complaining about refs in 99% of them, a pattern building to this debacle today!!

Away for a pint or two....

Makes it even sweeter watching O'Connor moaning and crying to Kelly at full time. He is beyond tiresome at this stage. I've never watched a more irritating player.

Well deserved by Sligo after the first goal. Ventre/Djalili didn't let Ryan/Robinson get into the game.

Big questions again about Croly's inability to change the game when under pressure.

Delighted to be back in the Aviva vevry good performance by the lads well done to them. Special word to former players Brush Ryan McGuinness and Quigley on their contribution today in getting us the victory :)

Missed the games, I see Buttimer is still ruining football.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I can't believe how easy that was. Rovers just had to play a half-decent game and not to anything stupid to stroll into the final. Did Shams create even one chance?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,349 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

Rovers never turned up and handed Sligo the final on a plate. The Cup was the last thing Rovers and Crolly had to play for but if he couldn't get it right for this game, especially after the failure of the league campaign, then real questions have to be asked.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,375 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

T'was a great win, but how bad are Shams? They did nothing all game.

Just 10 mercs on the pitch with no fight or appreciation for being there. We saw what it meant to Jeff Henderson as he ran his socks off when he was on the pitch, sustained a nasty cut to his head but he continued to attack corners, losing his bandages in the process. Shams don't have anyone in their team that would give half that effort.

Terrible manager and players who don't give a sh*t. I hope they don't change.

You're lucky with those two in the Premier. They give us McKell in the First Division

Unfortunately he's let loose in the Prem from time to time and he's been at Turners Cross a few times. If your team is playing and he's the ref I'd nearly stay at home cos you're wasting your time if you think you can attend a game with him as ref and be able to enjoy it

How many of that Shams outfit are already contracted for next season? Makes me wonder about the merit of giving 2 year contracts to mercenaries who don't give a sh1t about the club or the fans. They know they have jobs next season so what the hell.
And they'll probably add to the long list of egos as soon as the season ends!
Well done to Drogs despite the controversial circumstances! What a difference between the two refs, Kelly noted for his excellent performance and Buttimer noted for ......being himself!

  • Registered Users Posts: 192 ✭✭strawberryb0y

Thought we were excellent today, Baraclough got the team selection spot on and the attitude was excellent. It seems to be a dying art in football these days but Danny Ventre clattering into Richie Ryan in the first minute or so really set the tone for the whole afternoon. Himself, Ndo and Henderson really stood out today. If we approach the final in the same way I'd be very confident of victory.

I can't get over how brutal shams were though, their only shot on target came in the 93rd minute. Signing Richie Ryan and Eamon Zayed half way through the season have turned into two of the most pointless, money wasting signings in recent memory.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,761 ✭✭✭AgileMyth

We were easily the better team but that doesn't say too much because Shamrocks are atrocious.

Exactly. I fully expect the odd bad decision during every game, but that man has to have some sort of weird agenda before he steps foot on the pitch

Never had him that I remember or if we did he wasn't notcible at any Bohs games. I refuse to believe that anyone is more inept than those two though. :p

So disappointed with yesterday's game. Was fuming immediately after the game as I thought the two red cards were an absolute joke. Watched them both again and I can see why the first one was given. It was stupid from Meenan as Kenny had warned the team that Buttimer was very quick to send players off. Personally I thought it was a yellow but there is an argument for red I suppose.

Second decision was awful. Shields got the ball and there was also another man covering so no way should it have been a red. Think we might have beaten them with ten men as they were woeful. You'd have to make Sligo strong favourites for the final on current form. A day in the Aviva would have been a fitting end to what has been a brilliant season for Dundalk.

We didn't have to do much after we were 1 nil up and Dundalk down to 9. Dundalk played with no forwards so we were happy just knocking it about the backline, there was no need to go gung ho for a second goal. Nervy last few minutes but great to be in the final especially at Dundalks expense. A fitting end to Micks Drogheda career, 4 cup finals and a second place finish in 2 years on a very low budget, Cookie Monster we salute you.

Drogheda are the worst team to get to a cup final since us in 2002. Shocking shocking football team. If Dundalk had the 11 against Droghedas 9 yesterday we would have won 5 or 6 nil.

I've personally found the standard of referee in worse in the Premier Division than the First anyway, could well be other factors at play there though.

Knocking it around the back line and keeping possession would have been a good tactic alright.

But that's not what your team were doing! You were hoofing the ball to our back line all day and when you weren't doing that you were mis controlling the ball in the middle of the pitch. Awful display from the Drogs in fairness. Penalty was the only way they were ever gonna score yesterday.

We are now so good that we can have two players sent off and still keep ten men on the pitch.

Why would they? Could you imagine MOTD showing whatever Premiership crowd trouble there is each week?

They should and they should be punished but will get away with it again!

Add in the fact that the 2 clowns (and thats been nice) thought that Droghedas penalty was a penalty when he clearly won the ball

The 1st one was a Red but the comment on MNS when they showed it for the 2nd time was "He jumped in with 2 feet" when clearly he was jumping with one foot.

Thank God for our own club highlights that we dont have to watch this muck most weeks

thats 2 rounds they probably wouldnt have gotton through if it wasnt for dodgy officiating, i feel your pain!
Sligo will account for them easily, dont know why barra is persisting with North, he looks really unfit & overweight, reckon cretaro or elding would provide better options but they have enough other people who can nab a goal

also was anyone going mad with Keane being called Kane all the way through the commentary?

Wouldn't make sense to put it on MNS, may aswell do away with that Get Bums On Seats thread if you start doing that. Agreed that it should be dealt with though.

Drogheda will be utterly destroyed in the final, appallingly bad team

To be fair he looked that way last year too..

I think Green is our best option up front at the moment.
