Smoke Alarm wont stop sounding

    Hi,
    Out of the blue our Firex smoke alarms started sounded and would not stop.
    I switched it off from the mains but then the battery kicked in.
    The 3 alarms in the house were all sounding.

    When the test button was pressed it would stop it for a few minutes.

    I disconnected one of the alarms and the issue has stopped.
    Replaced the battery reconnected and it started again.

    I have now disconnected one of the units .
    Could there be a short or I noticed the alarm had a Sept 2013 expiry date .... would this be the issue ?

    Any help appreciated....

    if all electrical connects are sound and all have fresh batteries, next step might be dust. Vacuum the units using the upholster brush.
