Don't think buying online is really an option.
For a wired alarm I'd be recommending one of these 2 systems.

A hybrid system would be your best option here. Ideally, the best option is to cover windows and doors with PIRs used as back up. With a hybrid system you can use any cables installed plus add wire free sensors to the windows if they are not wired for sensors.

    Ideally yes.
But I just want to keep costs down for the moment and go with what is there.

Why would purchasing online not be recommended.

So I need a controller with wired and wireless capability, that would allow me future capability to add wireless sensors in the future, but use key fobs now? Is that right?
Anyone care to point towards one online I could start building a system around??

A Hybrid system is going to make any great difference to the price.
Either of these systems would be ideal.

    Check local suppliers here

Systems like these wouldn't be available to buy online AFAIK.

    So for the HKC 1070..
There are online suppliers, I'm just trying to understand if the prices are in a reasonable ballpark....

They are dearer than the suppliers I linked to. Why are you so eager to buy online?

I'm not "keen to buy online"..
I'm trying to price from as many perspective options as I can... and initially online is the easiest as I can do it in the evenings when I have time..

    Thanks for the pointers..

Buying from the suppliers of the these system is cheaper than the price on line. Most of these companys on Line are putting a bigger mark up on the actual price the system is available for. I would ring a few of the suppliers before committing to any dealer on line.
