Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Lovely try. A lacklustre Ash-Splash for the occasion though.

I thought the decision was up to the club or home union to nominate a suitable venue that is not there home ground bu agre enough to facilitate a decent size crowd

I think the club suggest somewhere but ultimately the ERC officially decide the venue.

    Good try from Sarries

Likewise, thought that was forward alright.

Close though and you get those decisions a lot. It was a well worked try.

It was a well worked try in fairness

I think Ashton now has the most tries ever in a single HEC.

Beautifully worked. and if the pass was flat or back it would still have worked.
But looking at the replays im sure it was forward.

    What are Clermont at.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

Sigh, Saracens are just brutal, worst opposition possible for Clermont arguably

That was a collosal **** up of the restart by Clermont.

Think this will be a scrum V. Don't think James knocked it out deliberately.

Hey lads, can't watch the game live and I just went through the planner and it doesn't seem to be repeated nor are there any highlight shows on later.

Anyone got any suggestions, if they be against the charter drop me a pm. Cheers!

The word "bottlers" is starting to become applicable to Clermont again.

Yellow for James. Think that's well harsh.

And a penalty try!?!? No way.

  • Registered Users Posts: 265 ✭✭Will23

Not sure I agree with that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

I don't think that is a penalty try, definite penalty but no way was Saracens going to touch it down.

That is an outrageous decision very poor fom Owens!!

Jesus. Doesn't a penalty try have to be defenitely scored if the incident didn't happen?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,718 ✭✭✭Taco Corp

that's a ridiculous call. don't think James was even looking at the ball

    Yellow is correct (professional foul)

However, after the first legit attempt to catch the ball there was no way in hell a saracens player was going to get to the ball next so the penalty try is completely wrong.

That's an awful decision. Game over.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

Yeah thats a really poor call

Probably scored. Don't think that fits still.

I honestly don't even think it was a penalty. I don't think that swinging arm form James was an attempt to knock the ball out. One of those ones that looks worse on slow motion.

2 games in a row Saracens have gotten dodgy decisions with massive ramifications

    Brock James strikes again!

  • Registered Users Posts: 327 ✭✭WorldRugby99

it was definitely a penalty but how could you say a try was likely to be scored?

I've no problem with the yellow once the penalty is awarded. I just don't even think it was a penalty. That, to my eyes, was not deliberate. Don't even think he could see the ball at that point...

James' arm hits the ball on the way down. His reaction is even as such that he chases after the ball once he touches it - hence it was accidental.

Terrible call. 5 metre scrum Sarries and 15 -v- 15 is the call IMO

  • Registered Users Posts: 337 ✭✭ulster_Beef

I pray that Munster will win tomorrow

I bought a final ticket months ago. The thought of a toulon vs Saracens final makes me feel sick

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

Its ridiculous how efficient Saracens are, 9 is pinned back nearly on his own line and nearly reaches halfway with his box kick clearance

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,178 ✭✭✭Quint2010

Can't believe Owens gave a penalty try for that. Mind you he does have a record of giving penalty tries at that end of Twickenham in HC games..

To me he hit the ball out, penalty and YC would be acceptable but a penalty try is harsh.

are BT Sport any worse than Sky when it comes to commentating on English sides?

Welll, no question he knocked it out. But I see no evidence that he knew what he was doing. You throw your arms up, your arms eventually come down. Jame's arm hits the ball on the way down

I'll rephrase it, I think he deliberately knocked the ball away, as it went over the dead ball line a penalty was the correct call as was the YC.

Not really sure that's a defence. The ref has decided James stopped Saracens from having a chance to score by knocking the ball off the pitch (which is obviously illegal), whether he meant it or not he's still done it and still stopped Saracens from having their scoring chance.

Owens seems very on Saracens side today.
Harsh penalty try and quick to end advantage for Clermont
