Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How to find out about open case

Last year, I was involved in a car accident.
The driver who hit me sped off, therefore leaving the scene of an accident.
The turned turned themselves in about 30 mins later when they realised the front bumper fell off the car with the reg-plate attached.
Anyway, they were not insured either. The Garda on duty told me to liase with her in order to get payment from them. That Garda never returned my calls after a dozen attempts.
That was a year ago and since I never heard about prosecution for leaving the scene of the accident or got money out of the driver, I just got fed up and left it. Now though, Ive gotten a second wind so to speak, and I want to find out what the hell happened to the case.
No other Garda in the branch will help me other than the one I spoke to.
I asked for an email but didnt get one. I even wrote a letter and no response.
Where do I go for information on the case?I was thinking the Ombudsman but didnt think they were appropriate for this.

Sue the driver, get a solicitor to write to Garda Station to get details of what happened.

Small consolation, but this gave me a giggle.

Do you have the drivers details? If so you dont need to contact the guards. Contact your insurance company and you will be compensated through the Motor Insurance Bureau of Ireland. Let your insurance company get in contact with the garda if they need to. That is what you pay them for.
