    What about this question?

What is hotter on a man?

    a) shaved
    b) beard

Depends on whether its a bear night or not.

People can criticise crazed Saudi rules if they like - it doesn't mean they are any of the above; that's only you searching frantically for things to be offended by.

What about the fact that many of the rules in the states being referred to are: anti gay, anti woman, anti non Saudi/Western?

That was a trick question. You shouldn't be thinking what's hot on a man.

Well, its the least one can expect from the leadership of these nations. Just the latest in a long list of very silly laws that they enact.

I'm sure this test will pass peer-review by the scientific community in the rest of the world with flying colours, based as it is on solid methodology and rigorous attempts at falsification.

I saw that, but every man on earth knows beards are class, the only ones who say otherwise are those who can't grow one themselves.

The Quatar World cup is going to be even more of a laugh than it is shaping up to be.

What happens when Ronaldo and Gareth Bale turn up at immigration, in their flip flops and carefully colour co-ordinated pastel fashions, with their delicate hit of cologne and of course, their MANBAGS packed full of L'Oreal skin care products and hair gel !

Once the games start, what is going to happen when goals get scored, and the players celebrate with hugs, or worse, one of those big bundles, where they jump on top of each other ?

Maybe they will introduce a 5th official to poke the bundle with sticks to make sure there is no funny business.

There are some serious opportunities here. I am off to Maplins to buy some batteries, a circuit board, a car ariel and one of those fartbox things, to create the meemeemee brand (TM) Electronic Gaydar ! This time next year Rodney, I'll be a millionaire !

Hey Louie, you've actually won an all expenses paid holiday to this magical Kingdom in a far away land, there's castles in the middle of the dessert, the men wear long robes around the place and the women wear a very special type of costume there where they're all matching.

    Enjoy! :)

I do enjoy watching the tournament, despite not being a footie fan. And perhaps it would be a very good stage to demonstrate against the human rights abuses and the like. Like Russia's Winter Olympics or Beijing in 2008?

If anything should put the brakes on the 2022 World Cup, it should be this.

Indeed, Saudi has just been ruled out of hosting the 2019 Asian Cup, because they will not allow single women travelling without a male family member to enter the country.

Then again, whilst Sepp Blatter and his brown envelopes still control Fifa ...

I was thinking, put the first lad down on the bottom,on his stomach. Then put another lad on his back, facing down also. Repeat the process twice more, they should all interlock somehow.
    Don't worry,it's a 2 L engine,plenty room for em.

Saudi men are the gayest men i have ever met. They're so touchy feely with other men, kissing each other, hugging each other, telling each other they're beautiful and it's not an uncommon sight to see 2 men holding hands through Riyadh while their wives walk behind.

What are you calling as you see? I quoted the post you wrote, and responded to you that disgust at rules like this does not make a person anti-muslim, or anti gay, or anti semitic (since they were mentioned by you in your wildly unsubstantiated comment). It is actually a regime that comes up with a rule like this that is anti gay, and also anti women, and also anti non Saudi and anti non Western.

So again, do tell: what are you calling as you see?

I know you're being wry, but God, what a grim ****ing prospect that lays out.

We're looking at an upcoming Olympic Games and a World Cup, in two countries where a whole random blameless chunk of people can't actually go for fear those respective governments might get them.

I mean not to go Full Godwin, but it's getting to the point where Jesse Owens was technically more welcome in Berlin than Belle Brockhoff will be in Sochi.

How are we pedalling backwards at this point like?

I read some of the report there and I actually wonder where they in some cases breaking up political meetings or protests and then labeling it as action against Homosexuals. A good way not to attract attention. Saudi and UAE are two nations which help to maintain order in Bahrain (they invaded). Most people are Shia but a small minority including the ruler are Sunni and have the vast majority of the wealth in a very rich country.

The stuff in Bahrain is fishy which has seen a lot of disturbance recently (and where the USA has a fleet based).

So, how does the rest of the region feel about human rights and their application to all citizens, including those who happen to be gay?
It would appear places liked Saudi and Rysdua, or at least their governments, assume this is an imported problem, a sexual preference that is entirely caused by the promotion of the lifestyle by outsiders.
    What a load of cobblers.
All they do is suppress those of their own people who happen to be gay.

    As the Manics said
If you tolerate this then your children will be next.

    The ruling classes don't care.

In certain states, in private, they use western prostitutes, consume alcohol, drugs and do what the f**k they like.

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2010/dec/07/wikileaks-cables-saudi-princes-parties

They then come to the Decadent West on holiday and do all of the above, plus go to casinos and gamble.

Meanwhile their citizens are treated like sh!te.

    And then of course you have the domestics, who cannot be citizen's, who seem to be on par with domestic animals, numerous cases of them being physically beaten and sexually assaulted / molested / raped. And amongst this, there are plenty of cases where the domestic staff are used as a homosexual receptacle by members of the ruling class who are in complete denial about what homosexuality is, and why they;

As are those who will boycott the World Cup in Qatar while happily watching it in Russia, a country which has introduced some of the most extreme anti-gay laws in living memory, in order to please the church!
The we have this state giving aid to Uganda, a country that has introduced the death penalty for homosexual activity!
Condemn them all or don't condemn any.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 213 ✭✭meemeemee

    Indeed.

Although surely separate news stories require separate threads ?

( And everybody will wholeheartedly condemn Uganda, there are a certain contingent on the boards who would attempt to smear those who offer condemnation as people who have an agenda against Ugandans, tar all Uganda's 36 million people as homophobic, are racist, or are intollerant of African cultural norms. It's often a fine line on here. Like the PC crowd who equate criticism of certain horrors of Islamic Fundamentalism with "Bashing Muslims". You can't win, although you can call in an airstrike from a Mod !)
