You are allowed to use any power tools for your project except for the practical where you are restricted to hand tools and a basic drill.

You are not allowed use the table saw and planer thicknesser as there are insurance issue due to high level if danger.

Different teachers/schools have different rules. When I did my lc we weren't even allowed use the pillar drill. All hand tools but my first line above is the generally accepted rule
