    Hmmm 'ekvos' = horse...........well, I got that much.

    Makes one wonder about the thousands of languages that are NOT based on an basic Indo-European root - any of the many 'native languages spoken in North or South America for a start.

    All languages will have evolved. Sometimes they will be left in splendid isolation like Basque with the language branch that sprouted this "twig" having died.

    Indo-European has been studied so much because it is the dominant language group in the world.
