Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Newbie cyclo cross question.

I'm watching a replay of the latest round in the men's world cup. The riders are all changing their bikes loads of times, how many spares would each rider be likely to have? Will the mechanic try to fix the bike the rider has dropped in during the race?

They would usually have three spare bikes but maybe also a training bike for checking out the course or warming up on a turbo. Then they would have a bunch (loads) of spare wheels to deal with flats and in case they decide on a specific tread choice or rim depth.

Mechanics job is to clean the bike, change any flats and maybe a broken pedal or a really quick gear tuning if times permits. There is no time to do anything else, since the riders can arrive in the pits twice a lap. The top guys would have a few helpers.

A mechanic might not win a race for you but he can certainly help lose it for you.

Lotto Belisol's 2014 kit. Last year's kit was nice but there's a distinct Molteni vibe from this one which I like :)

Disappointed by being left off the new Pro Tour Pinups Calendar, Katusha’s Daniel Moreno took the unusual step of posting his own pin-up shot.

edit: aww, I can't hotlink the image.

From the Daily Mash: "Everyone totally fine with porn sites storing user data"
37-year-old Tom Booker said: “Pornhub? What’s that? A pornographic website?

“Certainly that’s not something that would interest me. I only ever look at cycling websites after my wife is in bed. Because cycling is my hobby.

“I’m just curious though, how specific is this data. I mean, does it relate to specific addresses, like for example saying a hypothetical man in a hypothetical house is into Asian girls in air hostess uniforms?

If sugar is so into cycling why doesn't he put his money were his mouth is and get involved in sponsoring a team?

  • Moderators, Politics Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 24,269 Mod ✭✭✭✭Chips Lovell

    Doesn't look likely:
Seeing as you sold Amstrad to Sky, do you have any interest in professional cycling?
AS: No not really. I've been asked to go and see races a few times by people like Garmin, who supply equipment for my planes, but I'm not really interested. I cycle just for fitness and health.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,141 ✭✭✭✭Lumen

"I'm not really interested. I cycle just for fitness and health."

That response suggests Alan thought the question was about becoming a pro cyclist, not supporting a team or spectating.

That's the impression you might get if you were to read the quote once it had been selectively edited.

thats how he is i suppose would never put money into something for love of it, has to show a return. Has plenty contacts to get sponsors on board surely
