Ordered one of the SAD lights aswell as a christmas present for someone. Not too confident that it will be honoured as I'd say too many have been ordered at this stage. Well Done to all those who have already received theirs. Its £119.99 on the UK boots website.

Wow, so that was indeed a miss price. But I haven't made up my mind if I should thank madrabui for saving me €130+, of did I just spend €20 on something that I didn't need until he/she posted about it. :pac:

Got a confirmation email 2 hours ago to say that I can pick it up from my local Boots on Wednesday :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 759 ✭✭✭Weyhey

Boots cancelled mine (I had opted for delivery to store ) and price is now €155.

Edited to say - I never got a dispatch email so if you are lucky enough to have got that far hopefully they won't cancel your order.

Phew, Boots shipped mine this morning :)

Thanks a million madrabui, I had ordered a cheaper/smaller model (that worked out more expensive!) from the Amazon lightning sale, but was able to cancel it after ordering this one from boots :)

Kicking myself that I ordered mine to be collected from the local store. Got an email yesterday to say it had been dispatched to the store - if they'd dispatched it to me it'd be too late to cancel it. Haven't had a cancellation email yet, but it's probably just a matter of time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,396 ✭✭✭lindtee

Got mine dispatched to store too :( All to save a few euro  I'm hoping that they can't stop it at this stage (otherwise I'll have to think of something else to get the granny) Weyhey, did they cancel yours after it had dispatched?

Before they cancelled did you get a dispatched email?

No, they haven't cancelled it yet, but it's not due to be collected until Tuesday so they have plenty of time. Will just have to wait and see what happens. Will let you know if it does get cancelled.

Just nipped out of work there to pick up mine from store so thanks to the poster. Bargain at that price - something that I had thought about but wasn't worth €150 to me! Somebody in Boots will be getting a rap on the knuckles for the mis-price though I imagine.

a contract was entered into. they offered, accepted payment and despatched the item for collection.
they'd have a hard time explaining to the national consumers council and small claims court why they broke the law in breaking a sales contract.

Mine's been dispatched too, fingers crossed!

I used mine this morning and it is extremely bright! I had it in a very small room to start with but found it was too intense so moved to a bigger room where I could get a few feet away from it and it was great. As to whether it does was its supposed to, it's probably too soon to say. I was in great form after using it this morning but I think that probably had more to do with the fact that I got a €160 light for €20 than anything the light did. :)

You're supposed to use it about 15 inches away from your face for the effect.
However, you don't have to have it directly in front of you. Off to the side works best for me. I use it in bed in the morning just after waking up whilst reading / browsing.

I'll have to give that a try, I was really taken aback by how bright it was. I love having it on while I'm doing stuff around the house - really does brighten things up.

Of course it was, I grabbed one at the Boots price, but if people missed out on that, it's still a decent saving on Amazon.

My alarm is still going strong but in it was put away for the last few months. With the dark mornings I've brought it back out.

Though I've question, I find if I hold in the button under the time while just the light comes on, it doesn't prevent the alarm sounding. Any ideas? Or do I just have to switch off alarm by going through all the alarm options.

Basically I'd like to be able to switch off alarm should I wake by the light and not have to hang around till the alarm sounds. The OH got quite annoyed when I got up and alarm sounded while I was in the loo and she had no idea how to turn off.

I seem to remember not being able to do this so I have a radio alarm set with volume to 0

Sorry that's not quite the answer to your query now that I read your post again...

Still going strong here as well. I was never able to find a solution to your problem though. The light usually wakes me and I have to use the buttons on the side to turn off the alarm, or wait for it to go off.
