How to know if connection problems are because of my router or my wifi card?

Simply put I want a way to determine if the connection problems I'm having are because of my router or my wifi card... I'm on windows 8 aswell btw.

Check lights on your router first. What type/model of router do you have?

Default eircom netopia from a couple years ago. Light's are all green.
