Oh I know I don't sleep aswell either when shes in the bed and I can't move around at my leisure. If its any comfort my daughter was a terrible sleeper and randomly started sleeping through around 6.5months. It's still hit and miss but she sleeps maybe 4 nights a week which is incredible. I had tried everything and nothing worked. Then it happened spontaneously.

8 month old has decided that 4 o'clock is the new morning time. I get up ( ie get dressed ) at 7 after spending the previous 3 hours trying to pacify him. Bloody wrecked and then he goes off to sleep with my wife at 7 .

Has been going on for 2 weeks and we thought he was past that stage. Think he has an alarm clock :(

I hear ya. 4.30am has been our wake up call for the last week BUT there is a full moon about to peak, so hopefully when that passes they will sleep a bit better

We've had a great summer of finally getting full nights sleep. Now I don't know if it's a combination of what seems to be nightmares, and incisors coming in, but jaysus the last week has been ridiculous!

Last night we were only In bed 30 min, I hadn't fallen asleep even, and he was screaming bloody murder. Pacified him, he went back asleep. Hour later same again. Then it was 4.30. Hubby stayed with him in the bed In his room, but when he went to the loo little man decided it was time to get up for the day! 6.30 am I'm woken to a belly flop on my face and a duplo bear in the eye. :(

Plus we all seem to have a mild tummy bug....

Sorry but that made me laugh. My little lad gets the end of my nose and twists it to wake me . It's like he instinctively knew that would be the most effective way of getting me up

They are ingenious with their waking methods. I'm going to remember then for when he's a teenager and get my own back!

Your sounds sorer tho! The pinching and biting is back in this house though have to get a handle on it again...

There is an idea. I'll go it to his room at 4 in the morning and start screaming when he is only home at 3 :pac:

My mother used to come into me when she knew I'd been out drinking, at about 7am, with the dirtiest, greasiest, almost raw fried egg on bread and marg and would try to make me eat it! I've never forgiven her (and on the rare occasion she has a hangover I gloat and slag as much as I can!!) I'll totally be using that trick on my son :D

Mother of Jaysus, our 18 month old has us wrecked.....

He goes down no problem, not quite by himself but almost. Sleeps solidly for at least 4 hours, maybe 6, but at some point he will wake and proceed to shriek the house down to get out of his cot into our bed.

Didn't have anything like as much trouble with our other two, this has been going on for months. At one point I thought we had it cracked, he had about 6 weeks where he slept all the night through consistently - high fives all round, hello a good night's sleep again, but no - it didn't last.....:(

We have tried all the tricks that worked on the our two, sleep training, going into him regularly but not picking him up etc....

The force is strong in this one though......

Our 20 month old always ends up in our bed at some stage during the night. We don't mind though - getting him to go asleep in his own bed in the evening is the important thing and that's going OK.
We are just going with the flow now, and hope that with time he'll just starting sleeping longer and longer in his own bed.

There was only a year between myself and my other 2 siblings and the way things played out we all started leaving cert together. This meant we all started socialising after the leaving cert. My mam used to hoover the landing on hangover mornings making sure to thump all the doors really loudly with the Hoover. I suppose payback is a b lol

My little guy just turned one and is now such a mover we had to replace the side of his cot yesterday (we had it as a DIY cosleeper beside me). Great for keeping him contained for naps, but it left me quite teary last night thinking of how he's grown. What'll I be like when he goes to school?!

Ah stop - 20 week old still suffering the 16 week one

  • Registered Users Posts: 524 ✭✭✭CiboC

And we may have unlocked the secret......!!!

It seems this guy likes being cold.....! Well, not cold obviously but cool.

Last few nights put him down in his sleeping bag with either just a nappy on or with a very light short sleeved top and.....4 nights of sleeping solidly through for 9 or 10 hours....!!! He stirred a bit, but went back down himself with no intervention....

    I've probably jinxed it now.

Will try that next! Although I think we are the opposite, likes being warm

Baby woke at 6 for bottle, took me 40 minutes to get her back to sleep and do you think I could fall asleep knowing how knackered I am. .. not a focking chance :(:(:(

18 month old woke coughing at 5, couldn't get her back to sleep and then she woke the 3 year old :(

Toddler went back to bed at 6:30, 3 year old didn't, today is going to be a very long day.

I know the feeling. Our 18 month old woke at 6, had to get up with him to give him a bottle. He was asleep again at 0755. Just in time for me to have to wake our 8 year old for rugby practice! Knackered.

Why is it that you two are misbehaving but I'm the one sitting here upset :(

Patience being stretched to the limits today, days like these I really wonder if me being back at work would be better :(

My oldest started junior infants this year and I must admit I'm loving the mornings now. The little one just potters about doing her own thing!

Thanks everyone, my sanity has returned, though the toys I confiscated as punishment will be gone for another day ;) I had some coffee and gingerbread, feeling more adult now and less likely to breakdown :)

Does anyone else find Dunnes kids clothes wash terribly? A few of my little boys long sleeved tops have been washed twice and have shrunk about 2 inches. We wash at 40 degrees but my OH has form for incinerating things in the drier so not sure if it's his fault or Dunnes :o

I've found the same, and it's a pity because a lot of them are sooo cute! And I don't use a dryer at all, just clothes horses, so maybe it's not your OHs fault!

I don't buy from Dunnes at all for my little boy - I find that anything I've ever had for him from there has washed badly. Tesco and H&M are my "go to" shops for cheaper clothes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭bp

Yep awful, I don't buy them anymore. I wash at 30 degrees and don't put them in the dryer and they still shrink

Ah that's an awful pity I got a load of stuff cos I had a gift card :( Looks like I would have been better off treating myself or at least buying groceries. Ah well, I bought a size up so I'll still get a bit of use out of them. Shame because their boys tops are gorgeous!

So the kids have decided 5 o clock is an acceptable time to get up!! Got to 5:45 this morning. Can deal with this as its a phase and we take it in turns to get up. What annoys me is my MIL well meaning as she is making suggestions as to what we are doing wrong because they're up so early. Stop making 'that face' when you hear how early they were up in the morning!!
