I had an inspection this year that showed up a few unregistered animals despite sending multiple correction forms.
Got a 3% penalty had to sign the form for the inspector, no penalty on sfp (yet) did they admit that they were wrong?

There was just under 1000 stopped on the fathers SFP . For a lad that is always saying he wished he never got it he is doing some whinging about it now . Its for over claiming but nearly all they said we are over claiming on was taken out of it , some areas werent claimed on in years so I dont know how they reckon we are over claiming them at all

Rang Limerick section today, got through no bother to be told to ring Dublin, Satellite Inspection Div no less.

Eventually got through to the contact, he was very defensive and questioning at first when I enquired about my payment status. Eventually he chilled and told me they are sent 'off' for inspection and are returned in batches, but alas he had no confirmed payment date.

Got me thinking about two things, not good for mental well-being tho dealing with civil servants....

Why do they always leave these things until the last minute, they've had my SFP application since May?

And how much of an industry and jobs does all this SFP generate? How many civil servants families are kept out of unnecessary policing of the system?

I wouldn't mind but I had a ground insp two years ago, how much can have changed or what can they see from 20 miles up that would have been missed on the ground?

I will await patiently like a good lemming and deal with any bureaucracy, again, when the need arises. It just gets so tiresome dealing with an inefficient system that considers you guilty until you can prove yourself innocent.......

    Rant over:mad:

Rang the dept and was told letter and maps will be sent out explaining what the penalty is for, it can be appealed if you think they are mistaken

So after finally getting someone in portlaois to answer a phone it turns out I have an over-claim. On the same application that was submitted and payed out last year using the same dept. maps

And it took me ringing them to find this out and no correspondence at all from their end:mad:

Dear Mr collector general, it appears I won't be able to make that preliminary tax payment you are seeking at the end of this month......

Exact same here, 15 % cut, same maps same everything for many years, no letters rang them, no info, just wait and we will send you maps and letter telling you what the problem is, thats a disgraceful way to treat people

not called uncivil servants for a reason, call me bad, but if your job was maybe under treat, if you could penalise the people who are supposed to be getting...................I wont go there

Why are the ifa not shouting about this or is it not as common as we think I have spoken to 4 people, 3 have had a cut and 1 did not get any payment yet, so my survey says 100 %of farmers are having problems :(

Exact same as you lefthooker , some the areas they reckon we overclaimed on were marked off the maps years ago .
I was talking to the advisor today and he said that there was an amnesty on declaring anything you were overclaiming on in 2010 and if you sorted out those areas in that year they wouldnt stop any money retrospectively .
But if you didnt sort out all your over claims in 2010 they could take the money back that you had overclaimed on for previous years .

Has anyone told their local office/ Co.officers, Two or three years ago when payments were delayed before, we were able to get farmers paid within the week, but we have a very good guy in the local office, I have had no one onto me yet this time.
The EU is imposing a fine on a lot of countries because of overclaims, the technology is getting better, even to the point that they can now tell if land is not being farmed or has 75% of the land growing rushes/bushes..
The cuts are bad enough, but they could go back to 2009 and fine for overclaims since then. There's a story of a forestry guy being fined €32000 for overclaim.
Payment is only a week late yet so it's a bit early to say that Ireland has squandered the SFP money.
On the 16th Oct, 105000 farmers were paid out of 123000 farmers and I got mine in full. According to the people here on boards there has been a few payment runs since then.
Also you should appeal the cuts if you think they're unfair

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,738 ✭✭✭lefthooker

I'm not too put out over not being paid. What twists my tits is that we have to have the application in before 15th May or face a penalty, them "uncivil servants" have from then till 16th Oct and it seems they only look at amended maps at the last moment. Then they can't have the courtesy to inform the unlucky applicant that their payment is held up cos its under investigation

If there were consequences to holding up properly applied for payments I reckon they'd get processed a lot faster and a lot of the red tape would vanish.
