Oh please don't give them ideas. It's not that long ago that they stopped chaining up the swings in the park on a Sunday.

    That's not how it works.

    1. Hear about 'controversial' TV show / play / film / band, ideally in a moral panic whipped up by a tabloid newspaper

    2. Do NOT educate yourself as to whether there is any truth in the rumours at all. Instead listen to the most alarmist people you know, repeat their scare stories and embellish them while doing so

    3. Whip your community up into OUTRAGE!!!!!1! about the destruction of the morals of our young, for FILTHY LUCRE!!!11!

    4. Campaign to BAN THIS SICK FILTH!!!1!!!

    5. If you fail, protest about the show / play / film band that you never saw, but have passed judgement on, anyway.

My father used to claim that his bald spot was the result of getting a slap of a shovel (this did actually happen...Daddy dearest is what we in Cork call a 'character' :( ). So one day Sonofmine and I were at a family wedding sitting down the back of the church try to maintain a façade of respect when we noticed Dear Daddy, his brother and three nephews all in a row and lo and behold...apparently they all got a slap of a shovel....

Most amusing Mass ever...but not as amusing as Hermoines' christening where the drunken priest completely missed her with the water and gave all the responses himself...

Pope Frank has some kids release a couple of white doves to help calm the civil unrest in Ukraine. Unfortunately, a Russian-paid seagull and blackbird were waiting.

Not a blackbird, a hooded assassin crow. Here's a wiki picture of him looking rather smug. You'll notice it says in the caption below the pic that it was taken in his native Kiev.
Eastern Europe and Ireland are the strongholds of the Hoodie, but curiously they avoid England and most of Western Europe, and basically any NATO countries.

amen to that. This sums it up
Noah built the ark. God flooded the earth. Eight people survived. The Bible reveals all of God's truth for mankind. Give it a fair chance before call in it fairy tales. If anything is a fairy tale, it's evolution!

^^^ Sad to relate, but Popette visited an country in the Far East some years ago and, at the behest of the mother superior of the local convent, drank unboiled water from a well there. The resulting amoebic dysentery almost killed her, but she justified the illness by explaining that her faith wasn't strong enough to overcome the bugs.

Maybe it's not that her faith wasn't strong, but that God wants her dead. Getting medical help thwarted His plan.

Dublin priest gets rid of burglars by “boring” them, launching into a sermon that he had prepared for later that day.
Priest was also quoted elsewhere thanking God for His protection during the incident (though again its not clear what God's plan was here, exactly).

Disclaimer; burglary of priests not funny of course; its just his reaction that was funny.

I wonder did he ask them what their favourite humming noise was, or tell them about the extension he put on the extension to the house?
