    If a mod gives a user (such as a spammer) a 9-point infraction, then this is counted as a temp siteban by the Boards.ie user. The admins generally change it to a permanent ban, after which it's no longer listed as banned by Boards.ie. The idea is to stop a spammer in their tracks before they can post more rubbish.
