Just got a new sony TV and was wondering about using the BraviaLink(CEC) thing to control xbmc on my MC001.

It doesn't support it natively so I was wondering:
    1) What are the available options adapter wise?
    2) Where's the best place to get them from?

The adapters are pretty expensive - here's one - http://www.pulse-eight.com/store/products/104-usb-hdmi-cec-adapter.aspx

Had heard about the pulse-eight one.
seems the same price (~€43 including delivery) through amazon.co.uk or their US site.

Was wondering if there was an alternative or if it could be gotten cheaper?

would be great to remove the need for a extra remote.
I know I could use the app but remote is handier.

Flirc is really great and you can programme your existing remote keys to do what you want in XBMC which is really useful. Is very simple to setup. I find using CEC that it interferes with stuff popping up on my smart tv which is sometimes a PITA. I have a flirc in one room and my normal tv controller (Foxsat HDR) work great and I have control over the TV,Foxsat and the XBMC from one remote. I really like being able to map stuff like the context menu to buttons. Eg the red button on my remote brings up the context menu and the yellow button brings up play controls onscreen. You can do that too in CEC but its not so easy (have to edit the keyboard.xml file and figure out what buttons correspond on your remote), with the flirc you are up and running in minutes.

Oh that looks like nice alternative!

    Is it difficult to program?

Nope is very very easy, you download the app from the flirc website .Install, and run. Then on the screen you can choose an image of a keyboard or various other controllers and then click a key on screen and then the corresponding one on the remote and its programmed into the dongle, is very easy (theres a video on the Flirc website that shows it)

I found this page very helpful - http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Keyboard_controls (Xbmc built in keyboard mappings)

So choose the keyboard in flirc, and then press i on it, then the info button on your remote, press f then fast forward on your remote, etc etc, its obvious when you are doing it how it works. Only has to be done once.
Then just plug into your windows/linux/android box and away you go.
