They were saying this morning that they wouldn't be surprised if he rode on the good side of soft, Declan McDonagh and Hughes say that it's heavy ground

Johnny Murtagh yet again shows why he is the best jockey in the world.

Does anyone remember Jonjo O'Neill having him tailed off around Fontwell over hurdles :pac: :pac: :pac: :pac:

Genius . Was loving the Ernest Hemingway v Royal Diamond Fight during the summer.

Backed ahzeemah but last half hour put a small each way for royal diamond soley cause of johnny an his ascot form.raging tha I didnt put a small bi more on, solely hoping to profit for a place.

Absolutely delighted for him as a trainer.

Can't understand why Maarek is so weak here.

Please god! He is a G1 winner in the making! Hope he gets out of the stalls properly

That filly I backed at Cork Irish Spirit looks a very tricky ride

Although probably stronger on 6f , his last races were at 5 f. Would it be too much to ask for him to do a back to back in a short space of time ?(I know he has done it before and McDonagh is doing well)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

    I've layed Maarek.

Cant understand with 3 Gr1's, a Gr2 and a Gr3 that Channel 4 have a feature on the sales!!!! Surely that time could be better spent reviewing or previewing

    Well in droidy.

Grab a pen and stick a big line through that race with regards to Maarek. Slowly away, didn't get much cover and there is no point in even analysing it even more.

Don't know why they put Maarek into the stalls so early. He's gotten wound up plenty of times in the stalls and missed the break and being in there so long would not have helped. He was last into the stalls at Longchamp for the Abbaye and away on terms and it's stupid not to request putting him in late.

Do you think he would have beaten slash power today even with a clean break and cover though? It looked a very solid performance!

kumbeshwar in the next at Cheltenham, took 12/1. if he can jump the fences without too many mistakes, he has a great chance.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Not a hope Maarek would have got near the front 2 with a clean break. He barely passed a rival.

Agree he didnt pick up at all very flat performance. That race at Longchamp ay have took alot out of him.

Fancy this Igugu in the next I reckon she will like a bit of juice in the ground.

I always back any horse with my name in it, regardless of price.
Unfortunately there's not many horses called Enrique Iglesias in training.

O'Brien had a 2/11 shot beaten there at Cork, good thing Joseph wasn't on sure it'd be his fault

    I'm still blaming him

It's always his fault, even when he's not on board

He seemed to run below par at Cheltenham in the past including when I backed him at the festival.

To be honest i would think the race in Longchamp just fell into his lap. It was a strange one. They went mad in front and the pace collapsed and he just stayed on to pick up the pieces. I understand he is quite liked on here but i really dont think he is top group 1 level. Anyway just my opinion.

He is near the best of a terrible bunch. The sprinting division domestically is absolutely woeful

I feel like an utter tit. Wanted to back Seal of Approval but didn't because I missed the early price :(

Outsider of the race, very impressive though.

The way it panned out you were just waiting for someone to go and win the race and it looked like none of them were good enough to go clear until Seal Of Approval did, not a great field.

That ground looks bottomless at Ascot.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Would have won by half the track, The Lark probably would have bolted up in that race!

I don't either but still think she could have beaten that field, think that says it all about the race.
