Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Huge difference in TV wall bracket price - WHY?

I looked at a few on the electronic retailers in Ireland for a wall mountable bracket that tilts and swerves for 46" tv, and thought they were quiet expensive (100€ plus). I also looked on amazon and ebay and seen them for about 20£. Can anyone explain beyond personal theory, why there is such a 'massive' difference between online and shop.

Can't explain the price but I get all my stuff from these folks. Very impressed with a wall bracket for a TV mounted in the corner.

Had the same experience last week- Harvey Norman and Power City way overpriced compared to Amazon etc., - Thought maybe the HN and PC models might be gold plated :D

Anyway, after a bit of Googling, I came across this Dublin based company - http://www.bracketworld.ie/index.html - Offer the same product at a very reasonable price - Delivered free in Ireland :) -

Got this one for the bedroom - http://www.bracketworld.ie/117s.html - Cost Eur 26 compared to the Eur 45 - Eur 50 HN and PC were looking for and deliverd next day free:)

Don't know how HN and PC can justify their prices. Needless to say I will be checking online in future instead of shelling out big bucks for the same product to HN and PC ;).

Thanks. But looking on there it seems more of the same to me. They have more choice than main retailers, but still seem way over priced for cantilever 46" bracket, toward what I seen on Amazon.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Invision%C2%AE-WALL-MOUNT-BRACKET-CANTILEVER/dp/B00393KNVQ/ref=pd_sim_recht_10

I just would like to know why?

I see what you mean - Must agree there is a huge price difference there.
I suppose I was fortunate with the particular item i was looking for.

I can't understand how they are that price on Amazon (and still, presumably, making a profit). I would also be very interested to hear an answer to your question - I wonder if any of the retailers here could comment

OP, the answer to your question lies in retail psychology.

When a punter is spending €500-€1,000 on a TV, he/she doesn't see any problem in shelling out another €100 or so for fancy HDMI cables and/or a wall mount. The retailers know this which is why they consider it an ideal opportunity to sell you extras and an extended warranty. Shops which sell TVs are always more expensive for wall mounts, HDMI cables etc. than shops which only sell accessories.

People make the mistake of doing exhaustive research on the price of the item, they then go to the store with the lowest price, only to fall for the accessories hard sell at which point they get fleeced by buying high margin items that they could buy for far less elsewhere.

Never buy accessories from the guy who sells you the box, whether it's a €100 tablet or a €2,000 TV.
