Wow, that Carlton is some find!

It is, would always have had a hankering for an Opel Monza...

Tidy old thing advertising Nissan's scrapple scheme in Bray. I wonder if this will actually be scrapped when they're done with it though, their values have absolutely plummeted...its definitely not worth the €5/6/7k they used to command

Lovely old XM. Insignia included to show how big cars have become.

Can't see the insignia lasting until 2034.. The XM will be still with us.

The only reason that XM still exists (like most classic cars in Ireland) is because it spent most of its life in the UK.

Perhaps should be in the Classics thread, but serms well used and "serviceable" rather than a "show queen".
In a filling station in Ballinalee, Co Longford.
It seemed to have a VW grill, with a NSU badge covering the VW roundall.
Would a late NSU not be more likely to be in the Audi stable?

PS, being rural Co. Longford, the owner thought nothing of going into the shop for a few minutes while leaving the door open and the keys in the ignition!

What's that got to do with anything?

re the NSU posted by Nekarsulm, the grille "re-badging" is odd, it certainly looks like an NSU badge has been placed over the VW badge.
The K70 was developed by NSU, but sold as a VW after they acquired NSU.
Are there any NSU heads on here who know more of the model history?
Definitely hints of Audi off the shape as well, and in any case a rare and wonderful spot.

    few recent spots -
the Merc is a regular if not daily driver
the old Corolla & VW were in Galway

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,425 ✭✭✭tc20

meant to post these also -

the Roller was in Galway, it must be 1930/40s?
the ice cream van was in Bray

That "NSU" is listed on Motorcheck as a Volkswagen.
That's correct for the year. The K70 would be a VW in 1972.
I don't think the K70 was ever actually marketed as an NSU though it was developed by them.

Perhaps an NSU fan added the badging to celebrate the cars heritage.
Until we hear from the owner we can only speculate.
    Rare, wonderful and intriguing.
