The SL has to be up there as one of the most glorious looking machines ever put on God's green earth.

    Excuse me for a moment.

I saw this when I was on the bus this evening.

Anyone know what it is? I didn’t really have time to look and snap a pic.

i'm going to take a stab that it's Sunbeam Rapier. Fairly sure that particular car has featured here before. Striking colour, and looks to be in great condition. Well spotted!

Yes indeed, pic of that motor and color combo here on Wikipedia:

Closely related to the ol’ Hillman Hunter it would seem.

AFAIK that is a daily driver, and it either belongs or belonged to this guy! A total legend

Have we stopped doing that nonsense of NN-D-120NNN for imports? With that and the ZV range now, imports look daft.

Mod edit. Please dont quote 6 photos. Makes a mess of the thread

Is that 505 an early example of the later facelift models with the newer dash.

    Or a late pre facelift.

GTD turbo and the dechroming points to a facelift but perhaps the GTD turbo was offered in late pre facelifts.

Car is gorgeous, plates are fcukin awful.

Couldn’t take a photo, but I just passed a 91 Irish reg Merc 190 in Czestochowa Poland. Had to look twice!

    87TN543 Toyota Corolla

Edit - I've since arrived at the conclusion that those are the pre facelift rear lights on that 505.

Couldn't figure when exactly the GTD turbo came out but it seems most likely it's arrival wasn't linked to the facelift.

Ah well the joys of trying to be geeky :(

Hope it's ok to put these here. The wagon in question came up in conversation in the classic thread but it's too new for there.
