Looks like an SS-III, I had one back around 2008. Stock wheels which is unusual, probably means it's unmolested. Not many of them escaped tacky mods.

    With the Yamaha Beams engine

SS-II of the same year had that engine and also some MR2's

About 200 BHP when new and on Japaneses higher octane petrol.

Didn't do so well on Irish fuel and with crap air filter mods but I frequently saw them advertised as 210 BHP

I think Toyota were also over stating the power, the real figure for one in good condition on Irish fuel was 175 - 180

    3sge Redtop Beams
    197bhp is the official number.

They'd definitely be making over 175bhp the older 3sge's were plenty fit for that sorta power.

Main issue is they're a tad heavy being roughly 100kg heavier than the like of a dc2 type r

ss3's have this redtop beams engine.
Most ss2's have the older 3sge engine

3sge blacktop beams supposed to make 207-209bhp depending on where you read. (Altezza)

I was just going off of what people were actually getting from the dyno, lots of disappointed owners. But still a reasonably fast car, great comfortable cruiser on long trips.
Yes the DC2 was faster on technical roads.

Right, I always thought they used to by in larger stay above the 180 mark. I've never seen one on a dyno though they were common before my time really. Not too many knocking about these days.

I've been in a few very dead Altezzas that had definitely shed a good wedge of power. A spin in a good one really puts the powerloss into perspective.

Heard of a few 20v 4age's really disappointing on the rollers too but their condition would have been questionable to say the least.

Had a non-beams 3sge on rollers myself a few years ago and bone stock it read 178bhp at westward, on 95ron fuel. Which was a pleasant surprise as it was the exact factory figure for the japanese market.

    Great fecking engine tbh.

That's a lovely Datsun back there, My parents had the Cherry prior to that model. It was a 1978 2 dr one. The panels were like tin foil, Jesus did it rust badly.
