That green Citroen DS is an incredible spot.

Can't imagine there were too many sold here new.

Amazing to see one that looks 100% original. Although it needs a bulb or two - makes it so much more authentic!

It ain't a GTI though. Motorcheck have it as a 1.8D 3 door although I think it looks like a van with a GTI bodykit.

Not very old, but some brave soul in Cavan is getting their Micra ready for some essential travel!

Another spot today, poor littleVanette awaits its faith in a Cavan scrap yard.
Hand book, bundle of CVRT docs etc. in the glovebox still.

    Felix Gormley’s place?

I’m nearly certain that van was in north Dublin about 5 or 6 years ago

A motorbike fan, a dozen Classic Bike magazines in the back, and the contents of someone's garden shed including a selection of 1990's phone books.
The CvRT carts are in the name of a man living in Mohill, Co. Leitrim.

All the alloy parts are ripped out of the cars, gearboxes, suspension, heads and blocks etc, and loaded into the furnace.
Alloy flows into 4 feet square ingots and allowed to cool.
Gears, cranks etc are riddled out with the ashes and end up in India eventually.

    Standard affair.

Elderly owner probably had it for years and wouldn't sell because of his attachment to it or thought a family member would enjoy it.

The rural equivalent of Cash for cars probably pulled up with him numerous times in their own vans and he sent them packing. A few other prospective buyers were then viewed through the same light and as such were sent packing too no matter how noble or genuine their interest was.

Now the aul boy has died and the family don't give a bollox about the van and won't go through the "hassle" of selling it, so off to the scrap yard it goes. The one place the original owner had hoped it wouldn't end up.

I see now that Vanette has had the same owner since 1997, so it won't be the one I was thinking of.

I'd say selectamatic is spot on. A terrible pity

You would not be saying poor little Vanette if you were ever in one or drove one. Your arse would be in fire from the heat of the engine and they were very basic and easy to spin too. The Dad had two. The first one was the better one even do U do not remember that one only the second one which was a 92 one. The suspension failed in it while he was driving it. He spun it a few times too once when I was in it with him. Good look to it, bad rubbish I say. The 99 Astra and 2004 Fiesta been crushed is sadder.

    Peace and long life.

Looks a bit like one, all right.
Lots of newer cars than that 2004 Fiesta get scrapped, I'd be afraid to park my 2008 Avensis too far from the office block, in case some lad on the forklift or the Sennebogen thought it was in for the chop! :D

Someone likes there old Nissans anyway. Is that a 1.4 Primera? Surprised such a big car back then had such a small engine. I thought 1.6 might be the smallest.

I must look back on some old pics but it looks like the same car. Bought by a pal new in Joe Duffy's and sold on to another pal. He sold it back in 2014 to a dealer to be scrapped. It was a 318is when he bought it.
