I must say, it was class and that's from someone who's not a big fan of Jap cars. It was largely mint too, small tiny bits or rust in the arch and on the boot under the 5 Speed badge but other than that, quality.

The 5 Speed badge was something to behold back in 1980 as well

Didn't realise you could buy the 2 door Corolla Saloon in Ireland new.

You could get the Datsun Sunny of the era in 2 door saloon - but ive only ever seen those with Uk plates in pics.

was just thinking this evening - the Corolla of that era was actually quite a nice car for the era - and probably one of Toyotas best efforts at styling a saloon Corolla.

Not sure what the point of the 2 door was though - yes that particular one has a definite cool factor now - but the 4 door always looked nicer - so (shrugs shoulders) why bother with the 2 door.

Cork reg on that one too I think

Girlfriend sent me this - truly awful photo but I cropped it as best I could. Mk1 Golf "and the reg on the back was red"

88 Volvo 340 in Clontarf today, tried getting a pic but I was on the bike and only managed to get a photo of the road before it turned off. Old style plastic plates on it and everything.

Also a 91 Mk1 Golf cabriolet identical to the one we had when I was a kid.

Is it only me, or are there actually more 93 to 99 reg. cars tipping about these days?

This thread really gets me looking at pretty much anything with a pre-00 plate. Like, I'll always mention an e11 Corolla when I see one on the road, annoys the bejaysus out of my girlfriend but the newest pre-facelifs are 16 now

Seeing 03 reg cars today and thinking - that's 12 years old - the years have flown by

mk 2 Avensis for example - seen an 03 one of those - hilariously there was also a 2015 Avensis tourer parked across the road from it - it was actually because I went to look at that - that I saw the Escort van I mentioned.

Only seems like yesterday the Mk 2 Avensis came out

I saw a Toyota Gt2000 on a trailer today. It was a n Irish reg 1968 in red. I was on my motorbike so no picture.

It was the most beautiful car I have ever seen. Supposedly worth 7 figures according to Google.

Nice two door golf in Cavan today.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,079 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

Nice Cavan reg Mk7 in there too for comparison.

I always enjoy seeing old cars in the same county as they were registered, makes you wonder if it's still on one or two owners etc..

Two door example would have been very rare here. 99% would have been 4 door, and a tow bar ! :D

Ford Capri "Laser" in Dun Laoghaire today, 77 KK.
I fell in love with the Capri car when I was 6 years old having seen it in a magazine.
For the next 12 months I pestered my poor 127-buying daddy if it could be the next car we bought.
At the age of 7 I learned that you couldn't just choose any car you wanted and that they all costed different amounts of "money".
    Whatever that was...

I remember seeing a capri on some tv show in the 80s,it was a tickford still recall the name and thought it was a stunning car.

Saw a white XR4i on Sunday on a ZV plate, but didn't have a camera handy as it passed, unfortunately.

    I think it's a 68 Mustang GT Fastback

    33112pw.png

Short bit of dashcam footage as well.

Really makes your morning when you see something as iconic as that
