About to meet a sad end, two more useable run-abouts.

That's a sin, particularly the fiesta. bit of rot on it but original down to the hub caps. They will be and already are quite a collectable car.

    Corolla looks clean too.

feck sake, the number plate is killing that old Beemer, what a sin. i don't think a plastic plate was the right choice but no matter what it will always look odd with such a ridiculous number.

Couldnt agree more nothing like an old black and silver plate, i dont think the wheels do it any favors either.

Spotted this on the road yesterday near lanesborogh

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,806 ✭✭✭Old diesel

Not really on boards these days - but about 2 weeks ago saw an Opel Kadett van - 1990 vintage in white.

Can't remember when I last saw one of those prior to that.

    Looked clean and tidy

Earlier on in the year I was going to swap my 405 diesel for a 92 Kadett van. It must have been one of the last on a 92 plate, 1.6 diesel. Raging I didn't now but logistics were a bit of a nightmare, both cars on either side of the country!

The T25 is owned by friends of my parents. They have a Morris Minor too which is a real relic to behold. The Starlet I saw today on the quays and the Fiesta is from a week or two ago, on a road I travel up and down regularly but I havent ever noticed it. It might be an Xr2 or some sporting model

Anyway, another little something that I picked up over the weekend. A 1.4 Sunny saloon, has only done 80-odd k and drives great. Its been parked up for the last year and requires a bit of welding to get through another test but I will get around to it in due course. Original dealer sticker, radio, wheel trims etc all still in place. And a tow bar!

I saw a red 1987 Opel earlier on today and in great condition and obviously well looked after as well. The NCT was covered until May next year! That's the oldest car I have seen in a very long time I must admit. I know people here seem to spot much older cars but in my day to day commuting I have to say the oldest car I see tends to be 97-99 there are just so many cars from 2005 onwards on the roads these days. I actually think 2008 reg cars take up the most traffic on our roads these days.

The XR2 is my old car, sold it about 11 years ago. Great to see he still has it. Absolutely brilliant little car, so original too. I would nearly buy it back.

Spotted at the MOT test centre up north. Apparently it belongs to the test centre to give new recruits some experience.
